Sara Mowry, 82, is missing and it is highly suspicious

Investigators are looking into the mysterious disappearance of an 82-year-old woman, who went missing from her home this week but left behind several personal and vital belongings.

Details surrounding the disappearance of Sara Mowry from her home, an assisted care facility, do not add up and authorities said they are concerned for her well-being. Investigators have also discovered inconsistencies in her personal financial accounts, making her disappearance highly suspicious, they said.

Mowry, described as an alert and sharp woman who uses a walker, talked to her son Monday. Her son tried to contact her Tuesday, but was unable to reach her.

Back in her home, Mowry left behind her walker, hearing aide and medication.

Mowry cannot walk without assistance. She is also not suffering from any mental illnesses and was described as "very sharp" and aware.

"This is highly suspicious," Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

While investigating her disappearance, authorities also discovered "inconsistencies" in her financial accounts, transactions that occurred before she went missing, Amormino said. Pending the ongoing investigation, he said he could not go into details.

Investigators are also looking to find a 2002 Toyota Tacoma truck, which is believed to be connected with her disappearance, he said. The truck has a license plate of 6WO1148.

When asked what connection the truck had to Mowry, Amormino said he could not provide details at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call 866-TIP-OCSD or 866-847-6273.

A silver Toyota Tacoma linked to the unexplained disappearance of an elderly woman was found late Wednesday night, but investigators said they still don't know where 82-year-old Sara Mowry is.

On Wednesday night, a sheriff's deputy pulled over a silver Toyota Tacoma truck linked to her disappearance. The truck was being driven by an acquaintance of Mowry's grandson.

Investigators this morning said they could not provide details regarding the car because of the ongoing investigation, besides that the truck was located and currently being searched for physical evidence.

The name of the driver was not immediately released.

Authorities will resume searching through a Brea landfill today for an 82-year-old woman who disappeared from an assisted-care facility earlier this week.

About 50 searchers – including Orange County Sheriff's Department investigators, a search and rescue team and cadaver dogs – were to begin combing the landfill beginning at 7 a.m., Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.

Amormino would not say what brought investigators to the Brea landfill, other then to say that authorities were acting on a tip, searching for any evidence connected to the suspicious disappearance.

On Wednesday, a sheriff's deputy pulled over a silver Toyota Tacoma truck believed to be linked to the disappearance in Santa Ana, which was driven by an acquaintance of Mowry's grandson.

The driver, an at-large narcotics parolee, was booked on unrelated charges. Authorities have not identified any suspects or persons of interest in connection with Mowry's disappearance, Amormino said.

OC Waste and Recycling spokeswoman Julie Chay said investigators believe the woman's body was thrown in a dumpster, possibly in Laguna Hills or Dana Point, and then the trash from that dumpster was put in the landfill.

I keep checking on this story hopin to God they find this poor womans body but nothing really new to report...but the more I read around it seems as though the grandsons "friend" has more to do with his than just borrowing grandmas car. And I still have no idea where they got the tip as to how she ended up in a Dumpster?

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling…
And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it.

Yea - looks terrible. The "acquaintance of Grandson" driving the suspicious vehicle makes me VERY nervous. Elder abuse makes me sick

I think she's unfortunately beyond unharmed. I really would love to find out who spilled the beans on the Dumpster angle though..the "friend" is a junkie and it looks like he may have robbed the poor little ols lady and stole her car to make a deal...I'm gonna try to keep on this one. I too DESPISE elder abuse. It's a damn shame for these people to live through so much..wars, the Holocaust, the Depression..only to be murdered cause some junkie needed a damn fix. Gets me to no end DAMMIT!

I just did a google..and unfortunately there have been no updates on this since Jan 16..what a shame
