A Michigan man faces child abuse charges after police say he broke his 4-week-old stepson's ribs.

The investigation started December 31 when the baby was taken to Lakeland Medical Center in Niles.

Doctors suspected the injuries were more severe, so they transferred the baby to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. There doctors discovered two broken ribs.

Police say 25-year-old Jesse Clark of Niles Township, the baby's stepfather, admitted to hurting the baby. He now faces child abuse charges.

What the hell. a 28-day old baby with two broken ribs, I wonder how long the couple have been married?? Did a pregnant mommy stand on the street corner looking for a suitable husband?? Did she find out she was preggers and went out searching the local bars for a husband?? Either way he certainly isnt daddy material and didnt belong anywere near a newborn.

WTF? There is something disgusting about the whole idea of a guy getting involved with a woman pregnant by another man. I can't understand where this woman's head was at. Up her ass, maybe?

In a way, this incident was a miracle for the baby. And I reckon you all know what I mean by that!!

I agree, this mother must be a real winner. And how in the hell do you get another man to look at you as a viable new partner when your are pregnant with another man's baby?
On the other hand, I do remember being hit-on when I was 6 months pregnant, twice to be exact. I'm like, hello, see my belly? I'm not available...some men...don't get me started.

Some men find pregnant women very sexy. I was single my second pregnancy and got hit on constantly. So much so that I started wearing a fake ring on my left hand. But I can't personally do some other guy when I have a baby in me. It feels wrong.

I did date after my daughter was born but she was 4 or 5 months.

I have never understood that! When I was pregnant and gave birth to Seth the very last thing on my mind would have been dealing with some man's bullshit and ego. Who has the time, who gives a shit? I was completely focused on Seth and getting to know him and settle into a whole new routine and way of life.

Adding a new man into the mix? Puhleeze.

NILES — A Niles man is going to prison for breaking his 1-month-old daughter's ribs

Jesse Dean Clark was sentenced Monday in Berrien County Trial Court to 18 months in prison for first-degree child abuse.

Clark was arrested Dec. 31 in Niles Township after the infant was taken to the doctor and she was discovered to have bruises on her chest. She was taken to Bronson Hospital for treatment of two broken ribs before being placed in foster care for a month.

Police reports at the time indicated the baby's mother and Clark's wife had gone out to do some errands Dec. 31 and left the infant in Clark's care. On her return, she discovered the bruises on the baby's chest and took her to the doctor.

Clark, 25, of Bond Street in Niles, is the baby's legal but not biological father. The couple also have a 3-year-old son and both children have since been returned to the mother’s care. The baby is reported to be in good health at the present.

Clark is currently on supervised federal release after having spent time last year in federal prison for a drug conviction.

Clark admitted to injuring the baby at the time of his arrest and broke down in tears Monday during his sentencing before Trial Judge Scott Schofield. "There's no excuse for my actions," he said. "I want to apologize ... I'm sorry."

"You did a terrible thing, it's reprehensible and there's no excuse for it," Judge Schofield said. "You broke the ribs of a one-month baby because you were angry and frustrated. That requires punishment in prison."

Schofield ordered that Clark not be allowed to be around children after he is released from prison until he is off parole. "If anyone allows you to be around a baby in the future, you need to remember this moment," he told Clark.

Clark was also ordered to pay $120 in fines and costs and given credit for 68 days already served.

So either they were 'on a break' when she got pg by another man, or she cheated. That is probably why he attacked the baby, taking it out on her because the mother got knocked up by someone else.

I hope he never has contact with that baby again, and I further hope that he gets his ribs crushed by bubba!

Yeah, I got a lot of... shall we say, 'inappropriate and unwanted attention' when I was pg. And that was from guys I worked with, so they knew me and my situation! Some of the comments I got were, just, WtF???! I just couldn't get my head around it!
