Toddler Injured During Relatives' Christmas-Tree Tug-of-War

EAST ALTON, Ill. — A southwestern Illinois woman is accused of reckless conduct after an angry tug-of-war with a relative over a Christmas tree seriously injured her toddler.

Madison County prosecutors charged 28-year-old Sandra Price on Monday with the misdemeanor tied to her alleged Christmas Eve wrestling with her mother-in-law at an East Alton motel over the tree each said they owned.

The 21-month-old girl injured in the tussle over the 4-foot tree eventually underwent surgery on her left eye. Doctors say it isn't clear whether she'll regain vision in that eye.

Police say the family was staying at the motel after being displaced by a Dec. 9 fire in their rental home.

It wasn't clear if Price has an attorney.

"A Tussle over the Christmas tree??

Wow, apparently do not piss mommy in law off! That tree better be the way she always had it for her little boy!

How incredibly stupid that the baby got hurt and maybe lost vision because two adults couldn't get along.............

it is just a fucking christmas tree for fucks sake... this poor kid was injured, had to under go a surgical procedure due to these injuries, and now, may never regain vision in that eye, all because these two selfish cows couldn't stop fighting over a christmas tree? i think there's something deeper going on, than fighting over the tree...

my prayers for the lil' girl, i would hope that authorities will intervene and remove the child from their care, permanently.

Next time, save others from injury and just stab each other. Get it out of the way.
