Baby's body tossed with the trash at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, authorities say

I didn't know where to put this article so decided on here. Of course it's probably a double post.

Police are searching in New Jersey and Pennsylvania garbage dumps for the body of a baby boy delivered at Jersey City's Christ Hospital which was apparently thrown out with the trash, authorities said today.

"This has become a search and recovery," Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said this afternoon.

Hospital officials say the baby was stillborn when delivered by a Jersey City woman, Kalynn Moore, 26, on Dec. 21 and was brought to the hospital morgue. The family disputes the claim, saying that the baby was alive when delivered and declared dead 20 minutes later.

When a funeral home representative went to the morgue to pick up the body on Jan. 2, the baby could not be found, DeFazio said.

That's when police became involved and the investigation determined that the baby's body was likely discarded in trash and the trash was already gone. Jersey City Police and law enforcement officials in Pennsylvania are searching for the body in garbage dumps. Dogs from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office are assisting, DeFazio said.

Kalynn Moore, 26, of Jersey City, with her baby boy, in a photo provided by the family.

So very sad. I would be devastated. I didn't realize by reading the story that she actually saw and held her baby. I thought they must have taken the baby away in a rush and later said he was still born. Surely, the mother and family would know by the looks of this picture if the baby was alive or not? very odd. I'm inclined to believe the mother and family saw that the baby was alive. After all if he if he was still born, he would have been dead in this picture....wtf? I sure would like to know what happened....doesn't make sense.

I hope they find you baby boy. You deserve a proper burial. A trash heap is not a place for a baby's body...I'd name you little one, but I'm sure your mama did that already.

    Rest in peace little one...

That poor mother. I can't imagine losing a little one, and then not even having a proper burial/service. How absolutely irresponsible of the hospital.

Baby's corpse thrown out with NJ hospital's trash

Police are searching garbage dumps in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for the body of a baby that was apparently thrown out with the trash at a Jersey City hospital.

Christ Hospital spokeswoman Barbara Davy says the baby was stillborn on Dec. 21 and the body was placed in the hospital morgue. The body was gone when a funeral home employee came to pick it up on Jan. 2.

Police then got involved. Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio says it became evident that the baby's body had been discarded in the trash. Authorities didn't explain how the remains ended up in the trash.

The baby's mother, Kalynn Moore, says her son was born alive and died after doctors worked for 20 minutes to stabilize him.

Moore's attorney, Michael Anise, says a nurse cleaned the baby, dressed him in a hat and blanket and gave him to the mom to hold.

Whether the child was born is important because a stillborn is not considered a person under New Jersey law.

Who the hell was the nurse in charge?? Those poor parents, first their baby died, and got thrown out in the trash? Talk about double trauma?

I heard this on the radio this morning on my way to work. (Live in NJ). I looked it up when I got there. The picture of the mom and baby just breaks my heart. What a terrible thing and I hope the hospital is SMASHED with one hell of an investigation and lawsuit.

How can somebody make a MISTAKE like that is beyond me!!

I live in NJ too, I actually worked at the Hudson County Prosecutors Office while in college (internship). There are things that are so crazy that go on, this does not shock me.

My condolences to the family and my apologies that they are going through such a terrible time.

This is such a heartbreaking story. I don't see how in the hell a baby could be thrown out like trash by hospital personnel. Being a suspicious person, I wonder if it was deliberately done to cover up something. Poor little bit.

If they are part of UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ), I wouldn't doubt it. That group is rife with abuses.

So sad, How could you possibly dispose of a baby and not realize it? Don't they have protocol to follow? My thoughts and prayers are with this lil' ones family.

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Boyd County landfill is now the focus of a search for a missing newborn baby's body.

There's a fear, however, that the body already has been incinerated.

Kentucky State Police investigators said a train that hauls trash from the East Coast is being held in a CSX rail yard in Greenup County. Meanwhile, back in New Jersey, a heartbroken mother fears a possible hospital cover-up.

Police said if the newborn's body was discarded with the New Jersey trash, it very well may end up at the Big Run Landfill in Coalton.

Oh, I so hope they find the baby's body, so the mother can lay her to rest.

So devastating. I still think something is very wrong with this one. Either her baby boys was alive or still-born...which was it? I want to know!

Kisses little one....I want you found.

I live in the town next to Jersey City, and Christ Hospital is actually the preferred hospital to go to in the vicinity. If that doesn't make you want to move, I don't know what does.
