Two teenage boys were sent to the hospital Sunday after being shot in the Pine Hills area, deputies said.

Orange County sheriff's deputies were responding to an attempted armed robbery near Atrium Circle at 8:28 p.m. when they heard gunshots. Minutes later, one of the deputies was flagged down and told that two boys, ages 12 and 15, had been shot in the arm and hand.

The boys told deputies they had been walking near the power lines when they heard the gunshots. They later realized they had been shot. The boys returned home and were transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

Sheriff's reports show an agency chopper and K-9 dogs searched the area for the suspects. Deputies did not confirm if the shooting and attempted armed robbery are related.
