A 31-year-old Lake County man has been arrested and charged with killing his step-father and shooting his mother, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

At about 2:13 p.m., deputies responded to a home in the Pine Lakes area of Eustis and discovered that Daniel Rodgers had been shot and killed and Gloria Rodgers had been shot in the arm.

The home belongs to Brian Michael Boardway, 31, and investigators said he is the alleged shooter. He has been charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.

Boardway's mother, Gloria Rodgers, is a clerk with the Lake County Sheriff's Office and investigators said she and Boardway's step-father, Daniel Rodgers, came to the house for an unknown reason.

Gloria Rodgers is being treated at Florida Hospital Waterman.
