A 3-month-old is dead, and her father is in jail, charged with murder.

Cedar Hill police say the infant, Melinda Daniels, died Friday from injuries given to her by her father, 46-year-old Melvin Daniels.
Melvin Daniels was arrested and released earlier in the week after being charged with injury to a child. He was re-arrested Friday after his daughter's death.

Melva Stephens, a neighbor of the family, is in shock. "Kids are so innocent… how can you hurt a little bitty baby. You just want to kiss them and hug them… but you don't want to kill them. I'm just kind of baffled right now. I'm at a loss for words.

The death adds to disturbing statistics. Child abuse experts say Dallas County has the highest number of abuse related deaths in the state.
Daniels remains in jail on a one million dollar bond.

Most people when they see a baby, an itsy, bitsy baby, all you want to do is comfort and hold that bundle...I said MOST. A growing number of people have lost something, be it decency, respect for life or the sacredness of a helpless baby. I think some never had the ability to care. It's alarming the numbers of child abuse, and they just continue to grow...I vent sometimes when I just can't take it..like in my blog, other times I feel my heart can't possibly break again, but it does.

This bastard like so many others know nothing about the gift of life, the miracle of having a precious little one that is part of them. I say death to them...we need no more.

Rest in peace sweet Melinda, the monster who took you was your father...I'm so sorry.

Geez, 46 is a bit late in life to be starting a family or having another child, his girlfriend / wife got to be in her 20's. Still at 46 you should have some expericence being around babys. The little girl was only 10-week-old for Gods sake.
