Twenty-nine-year-old Shane Bell faces one count of first degree murder and another count of first degree attempted murder in the death of his girlfriend and her sister. Bell is the stepson of Spearfish (SD) mayor Jerry Krambeck.

Shane Bell was charged after police say he shot and killed 42-year-old Bobbi McClure and sent 40-year-old Tammy Anderson to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

One victim who had been shot was identified as 40-year-old Tammy Anderson, McClure's sister, who hotel officials say checked in just hours earlier. Anderson was in serious condition but was able to identify Bell as the shooter.

Police say Bell was arrested in June for a firearms violation; those charges were later dropped. There are no previous reports of violence between the couple. While they know alcohol was a factor leading up to the incident, police aren't sure why the crime was committed.

Shane Bell was arrested only blocks away. He had been on the run for almost nine hours in bitterly cold weather.

Bell fled from the motel before police arrived. A .22-caliber weapon was found.

Bell was staying in room 102, which was registered in his name. McClure was living with Bell, according to a motel desk clerk. They had been living together in the room for about four months.

Saturday night Anderson checked into room 101, which is located right next door to the room that Bell and McClure shared. The door to that room had an apparent bullet hole in it.

In addition to Anderson, police have been working with a 9-year old boy in the investigation. A police spokesman did not elaborate about the boy's involvement, but said “I'm aware of a child who has been cooperative in the investigation but I am not at liberty to elaborate much beyond that because of the person's age and status.”

Whatever the problem he had with those two are permanently solved. But he made a bunch of new ones.
