Jennifer Larkin was arrested about 12:36 a.m. Saturday for assaulting a police officer after a large fight at Franchella’s Bar on Main Street, according to the arrest affidavit.
Larkin hit Plymouth police Officer John Vanderlick more than five times in the face and throat with a closed fist when Vanderlick attempted to break up a fight between Larkin and Mariann Pierontoni in which Larkin shoved Pierontoni, the affidavit continues.
Vanderlick and other patrons yelled at her to stop, but 27-year old Larkin continued to hit him and resist. She didn’t stop until he displayed his Taser gun.
“I was going to Taser her, but she finally calmed down,” Vanderlick said when interviewed later.
Vanderlick said he suffered minor pain and his face “was just swollen, hurt and red,” but he didn’t seek any medical attention.
He said Larkin, a bar patron, was sober when she hit him. She was one of more than 10 people fighting in the back of the bar.
Larkin was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bail after being arraigned at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility by District Judge Daniel O’Donnell. Larkin of Plymouth wasn’t the only person arrested, but she faced the most serious charges.
