LAGRANGE, Ga. -- A middle school teacher in Troup County is facing sex related offenses following her arrest for child molestation. Troup County Sheriff's officials said criminal charges were filed against 45-year-old Elizabeth Gaddy.
Gaddy, a seventh-grade teacher at Callaway Middle School, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old male student. She was also charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Authorities alleged that Gaddy had sexual contact with the boy for several months.
Sgt. Kelli Ellington said some of the alleged behavior occurred at Gaddy's home in Hogansville and also on dirt roads in Troup County. Ellington said none of the alleged behavior occurred on school grounds.
Gaddy was already on administrative leave because of a previous investigation into allegations of inappropriate contact with students by Gaddy, a former cheerleading coach.
Ellington said parents of cheerleaders complained about inappropriate close relationships between Gaddy and cheerleaders.
"(The parents said) she was too close to them. (She was) writing them notes, text messaging them on certain occasions," said Ellington.
Gaddy is being held in the Troup County Jail.
