It's not big national news. Jessica was a friend of my daughter's. They grew up together. And now she's dead. Why? Because the driver of the car in which she was riding was drunk. She lost control of the car on an area of fairly deep water near Knoxville, TN. The car hydroplaned and rolled. And Jessica died of massive head injuries at the scene. They haven't released the name of the driver.
The story states that she lived in Knoxville and that she was 20 years old. What it does NOT say is that Jessica grew up in Southern Ohio. Nor did it say that she had a three year old son who still doesn't understand why Mommy isn't home yet. It doesn't say that Jessica had beat an addiction to cocaine and that she was getting heer life back on track. Nor does it say that she was sober but would not drive because she had lost her license.
Well, my daughter, Helena, tells me that the driver of the car is traveling up to Southern Ohio for the funeral. I guess she feels that she needs some closure. My daughter said she's going to try and hold herself back from pounding this girl into the ground because it's Jessica's funeral. But the girl is traveling into the Lion's Den. Must have brass balls under her skirt.
She said that she IS going to ask if this girl would like to go over to Grandma's house and explain to Jessica's son why she isn't coming home.
This is the second death this Holiday Season of someone close to my daughter. She opted to have me send cash for Christmas so that she could travel to Ohio for Jessica's funeral. Inasmuch as I too am crying, I worry about my daughter. She suffers from depression and I worry much about her. I wish that I could take all the sadness away and place it on myself instead of having her suffer like this.
We Love you Jessica....and we always will. RIP little one. Look down from heaven and watch over your tiny son.
