A Sheboygan man was charged with burglary — the third time this year he has been charged with the crime after leaving blood at a crime scene.

Leroy M. Godard, 31, who was already being held at the Sheboygan County Detention Center, could face an additional seven and a half years in prison if convicted of the felony count. He now has six burglary charges pending.

Godard broke into Scenic Bar in July by punching through a window and reaching through to unlock a deadbolt. Blood found on a stack of napkins inside the business was matched to Godard by the State Crime Lab.

The bar’s owner said Godard took six bottles of non-alcohol beer as well as an unknown number of other bottled beers. The bar was closed for renovations at the time, so there was no money inside.

Godard’s pending charges include allegations he smashed through a glass door July 16 at the 1907 Club and in July 2007 police say he cut his knee entering a window he smashed out at Van Horn Hyundai.

Charges were filed in both cases this year after DNA results matched blood found at the scene to Godard.

I'm pretty positive they still teach about DNA in schools.
