A Charleston man was in jail Monday on charges that he abused his 7-month-old son.

Joseph Cobb, 20, was charged with felony child abuse resulting in injury, according to a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

"According to medical examinations, the boy has sustained significant injuries including a fractured pelvis, fractured ribs and a fractured skull, all of which are consistent with child abuse," the release said.

The was still in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at CAMC.

Detectives investigating the case have determined that Cobb was the only person who was with when he was injured. The baby was taken to Women's and Children's Hospital on Nov. 20.

Cobb was being held at South Central Regional Jail. Bond was set at $100,000.

I kept reading it as a "fractured penis" and grossed myself out in the thought process.

Considering baby bones are more flexible that adult ones, this guy is going to have a damned hard time explaining. I doubt "I tossed him and dropped him" is going to work. I go with Nell's boot kicking theory and bet they were steel toed.

have they ruled out Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones)?...my ex's natural father was nearly charged with child abuse, when my ex was a young child...he was playing, and my ex started screaming and crying and they took him to the hospital... CPS tried to take my ex away, but the doctors told them.. 'he has OI'.. i just wondered if anyone bothered to check..

A father from Charleston admitted today to beating his seven-month-old baby boy.

Joseph Cobb was arrested in December after his son was taken to the hospital with a fractured pelvis, ribs and skull.

Investigators say Cobb caused those injuries.

Today Cobb pleaded guilty to child abuse causing bodily injury.

Prosecutors in the case say the baby may never recover from his injuries.

Cobb will be sentenced on September 3rd. He faces two to ten years in prison.

I suppose that means if he behaves himself while in prison, he can get out in 2 years. He should be able to do that because there are no babies to abuse in prison. He should be back out makin' and breakin' kids in no time. Shithead.
