A pregnant Port Richey woman faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and introduction of contraband after she tried to smuggle methadone pills and a syringe into jail, the Sheriff's Office said.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Katrina Doyle was initially arrested Saturday morning on a count of domestic aggravated battery.
Doyle stabbed her husband in the back of the head with a ballpoint pen during an argument at their home in the 6900 block of Twilite Drive, the Sheriff's Office said. Her husband, David Anthony Pook, was taken to a hospital and later charged with domestic aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.
Pasco deputies booked Doyle into the county jail in Land O'Lakes that afternoon. Later, a witness at the jail said Doyle removed a bag of pills and
a syringe from her rectum once she was placed into a cell. Doyle used the syringe and passed out, according to the incident report. The witness soon notified a corrections officer.
Doyle remained behind bars Sunday in lieu of $12,650 bail. Pook was also in jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
