A man suspected of raping at least nine women in Prince George's County, many of whom he met through the popular Web site Craigslist, died after shooting himself in the head yesterday while barricaded inside a Hyattsville apartment building, Prince George's police said.

Maj. Daniel Dusseau, head of the police department's major crimes unit, identified the suspect as Mark Antonio Humphries, 33, of the 4100 block of Suitland Road in Suitland. Humphries was taken to a hospital where he died late last night.

Police say they think Humphries attacked at least nine women, surfing Craigslist and popular chat rooms to set up dates with professional escorts. When women arrived expecting a client, they instead found a masked rapist who carried out his attacks in stairwells, dark corners and, most recently, in hotel rooms, authorities said.

In his apartment they found two cell phones Humphries had stolen from his victims. That was part of his M.O.

The crimes were methodical. He was careful not to leave fingerprints and his victims consistently reported the green latex gloves, ski mask, gun and camera Humphries used during his assaults. Afterwards he would steal his victim's cell phone and Driver's License, warning her that he could find her and kill her if she went to police.

Humpheries may go down in infamy as "the" Craigslist rapist, since he struck in an area near media-centric Washington, D.C.; however he is not the only one.

In DeKalb County, Georgia, 18-year-old Allen Jamar McDowell was arrested for the rape of two women he met through Craigslist. McDowell is also HIV positive.

In Tigard, Oregon, 52-year-old Ronald M. Leistiko was arrested for luring several women to his home through Craigslist and raping them.

In California, 24-year-old Waymon Livingston was arrested for raping a masseuse he contacted through Craigslist. The DNA from the rape linked him to a murder for which he is now facing life without parole

The last girl was a friend of mine, He beat the living shit out of her, She was in the hospital for a very long time. They used the DNA from her rape and matched it up to a murder. He did pretty much the same thing all these Ass Hats did. Used throw away phones.

Needless to say I am pretty happy this bucket of shit shot himself.
