I keep having variations of the same dream, and it is pissing me off! If you could help maybe I can stop having it.

Ok, so I have this dream that I am somewhere I am not familiar with somebody I trust. It has changed, like I said. Once it was at a party with my sister, once I was at my moms house with my mom. Every time they leave me there to go do something more interesting. And If you tell me I have abandonment issues I will hurt you. I know that!!

The other one that is also kinda the same is that I keep having to move or run because "bad" people are chasing me. I never know who these bad people are or what they want, but it is something not good. And while I escape I sometimes lose loved ones along the way. They either disapeer or are killed. I am not getting any restful sleep at all.

    LOL... you have abandonment issues!
    JK...
My diagnosis: you are having a typical nightmare. This is also known as a release dream. You are allowing your fears {of losing someone you love} to manifest themselves while you dream.
Also, when you see loved ones in your sleep, most always it means that you are astrally travelling. No thats not some weird, new age concept... Its different than astral projection. Even the Christian Bible talks about the "silver cord". That is what connects your soul to your body. It resembals the umbilical cord, is attached through your belly button, and its infinately long. When that cord is severed that is when your soul leaves your body for good... AKA dying. Sometimes when we dream our souls seek out other souls, like family and friends, to check up on them and see what they'e up to; and the cord is what helps us find our way back to our bodies. Have you ever woken up and not been able to move for a few seconds? That is known as Sleep Paraylisis, that happens when your soul isn't quite back in your body.. Sounds crazy I know, but I believe it's true.
Anyway back to your dream.... Simply put, you and your sister/ mother's spirits are "visiting" eachother. They may have more than one person on the "agenda" for their time and that may be why you are upset when they leave... It sounds like your subconscience is telling you that there is something unresolved that you need to discuss with them. If there is something you need to get off your chest, that may help put a stop to those dreams if they are disturbing you.
You could also try practicing lucidity. (Go to: http://lifehacker.com/software/mind-...eam-286836.php) Lucid dreaming is the conscience awareness that you are dreaming, and allows you to control the dream.
When someone or something is chasing you, the best recourse is to teach your subconscience to face your fear, turn around and ask them what they want. This is a very common recurring dream, almost everyone has had it at one point or another. Once you turn and face it, you can rest assured these people will stop chasing you.

There are a few other themes in your dreams that you might want to take note of. I looked them up and posted the definitions here for you. Try and apply it to your personal life and make what you will of it.
My favorite online dream dictionary is:
    http://hyperdictionary.com/

Family: Seeing your own family in high spirits in your dream, symbolizes harmony and happiness. Seeing them gloomy, foretells of disappointment and sadness.

Abandonment: Dreams of being abandonned often reflect feelings of low self-esteem and undesirability more than literal concerns of betrayal or desertion. If we have been feeling low or have suffered a setback in our romantic or professional life, this dream is a call to action. It is time to identify your goals, so you can feel better about yourself and leave these dreams behind!

House: Seeing a house in your dream, represents your own soul and self. Specific rooms in the house indicate a specific aspect of your psyche. In general, the attic represents your intellect, the basement represents the unconscious, etc. If the house is empty, then it indicates feelings of insecurity. If the house is shifting, then it suggests that you are going through some personal changes and changing your belief system. Seeing an old, run-down house in your dream, represents your old beliefs, attitudes and how you used to think or feel. A situation in your current life may be bringing about those same old attitudes and feelings. Alternatively, the old house may symbolize your need to update you mode of thinking. There are some aspects of yourself that you have denied. Dreaming of a haunted house means unfinished emotional business, related to your childhood family, dead relatives, or repressed memories and feelings. Dreaming that a house disappeared, indicates that you are not feeling grounded. You feel uprooted by a particular circumstance or relationship in your life.

***Seeing houses is a very important part of dreaming. ALWAYS PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE CONDITION, APPEARENCE, AND "FEEL OF THE HOUSE YOU ARE DREAMING OF. It is symbolic of how you see yourself. In your case you can attribute seeing your mother's house as how you view her, or, if it was the house you grew up in; how you miss an aspect of your past self.

Party: Dreaming that you are at a party, suggests that you need to get out more and enjoy yourself. If the party is bad, then it indicates that you are unsure of your social skills.

Chase: Chase dreams often stem from feelings of anxiety in your walking life. The way we respond to anxiety and pressure in real life is typically manifested as a chase dream. Running is an instinctive response to physical threats in our environment. Often in these dream scenarios, you are being pursued by some attacker, who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. You are running away, hiding, or trying to outwit your pursuer. Chase dreams may represent your way of coping with fears, stress or various situations in your waking life. Instead of confronting the situation, you are running away and avoiding it. Ask yourself who is the one chasing you and you may gain some understanding and insight on the source of your fears and pressure.

Disappear: Dreaming that people or objects are disappearing right before your eyes means your anxiety and insecurities over the notion that loved ones might disappear out of your life. You may feel that you cannot depend on someone and feel that you are alone and inadequate. You need to work on your self-image and self-esteem. Alternatively, to dream that someone is disappearing suggests that you may not have given sufficient attention to those aspects/qualities of that person within your own self. Have you lost touch with some aspect of yourself?

Escape: Dreaming that you escape from injury, from an animal, or from any situation means your good health and prosperity. You will experience a favorable turn of events. On the other hand, it may mean that you are taking an escapist attitude and are refusing to face up to problems that are not going away.

I hoped I helped, Thanks for being the first one to post in my group, Nell!!!

    I had a dream!

I dreamt that I was in high school. Because of a chronic illness, I had been allowed for about a year to attend school whenever I felt up to it Sometimes I would go for a couple of hours, sometimes half a day, sometimes not at all. This was fine with everyone. But it had been a year and I now realized that I could no longer bear to sit in class all day. I thought about how I had felt when I first got sick and saw that that had been true physical illness. I had to admit that I was better now, but "untrained" to sit in a classroom

From this point the dream shifted to a railroad station for some reason. I was taking a trip and had to buy a ticket. When I got to the desk, I coughed a few times, and the lady behind the desk announced that she refused to sell me a ticket because I was sick and should not travel and infect others. I protested and they sent me off to some sort of manager.

He agreed to sell me the ticket. For the first time I wondered if I had brought enough money. I got out a mess of change and three bills. It seemed easier to pay by check, so I put the money back and got out my checkbook. All this time I was delaying a line of customers behind me with my fumblings. I had no checks; remembered that I had used the last. I looked at the 3 paper bills in my hand and knew there was no chance it equaled the $60 I needed. I began to tell the ticket manager that I didn't have the money, embarrassed after all my fuss. Then I happenen to slide apart the bills -- two $5 and a $100 dollar bill were there. I was thrilled. I could buy the ticket and get on the train.

FunkMamma, I do have a chronic illness that has kept me out of the running of life for about a decade. And I have been thinking about the little boy who got voted out of his class -- it seems to me that some of success in school is the ability to inflict the suffering of boredom on oneself. The one useful revelation of my illness was that I was never meant to work in an office, yet went to one daily for 20 years.

I am very interested to see what you make of this dream. If you need to know more, I'll be glad to give more info if I can remember it.

Yay! This dream is sooooo interesting! You may want to grab some popcorn, this may take a while:

First, I am going to post some dream definitions, I use http://hyperdictionary.com/ I think they are the most accurate dream dictionary that I have found.

School: Dreaming that you are in school means feelings of inadequacy and childhood insecurities that have never been resolved. It may relate to anxieties about performance and abilities. You may also be going through a "spiritual learning" experience. If you are still in school and dream about school, then it will naturally serve as a backdrop to your dream world. Alternatively, a dream that takes place in school may be a metaphor for the lessons that you are learning from your waking life.

Illness: Dreaming of an illness in your dream indicates despair, unpleasant changes, and an emotional breakdown. The illness may be symbolic of your inability to cope with a situation and you see that being ill is an easy way out. On a more direct note, this dream may signal you to pay close attention to your health especially to the areas of body revealed in the dream ** this is the angle I would look at considering your health.

Time: Dreaming about time indicates your fears of not being able to cope with the pressures and stresses of everyday life.
    * The reason I put this definition in here is because of all the references to time in this statement "Sometimes I would go for a couple of hours, sometimes half a day, sometimes not at all. This was fine with everyone. But it had been a year and I now realized that I could no longer bear to sit in class all day."

Classroom: Dreaming that you are in a classroom, symbolizes that you may be learning an important life lesson.

Train: Seeing a train in your dream, represents conformity and go along with what everyone else is doing. You have the need to do things in an orderly and sequential manner. Dreaming that you miss a train indicates missed opportunities or nearly escaping your death.

Ticket: Seeing a ticket in your dream means the start of a new endeavor. You have decided on your path and goals in life. Dreaming that you lose a ticket indicates confusion and ambiguity in the direction of your life.

Argument: When you dream that you are arguing with someone, it reflects the growing tensions in your **relationship with that person. You might be expressing a need to exteriorate your frustration with that individual. Sometimes such dreams can be of a prophetic nature, and might warn you against some arguments you might be having with the person you saw in your dream.

**In this case, I think that person refers to society in general, not a particular individual.

Money: Dreaming that you lose money means temporary unhappiness in the home and a few setbacks in your affairs. You may be feeling weak, vulnerable, and out of control in your waking life. Additionally, you may be lacking ambition, power and self-esteem. Dreaming about giving money away, is analogous to giving love. You are looking for love. Seeing others giving money away, suggests that you are feeling ignored or neglected. Someone is not paying enough attention and showing enough affection toward you. Dreaming that you have no money indicates that you have a fear of losing your place in the world or that you feel that you lack the abilities needed to achieve some desired goal. You may be overlooked or neglected by others.

Coin: Seeing coins in your dream indicates missed or overlooked opportunities that come your way. Seeing gold coins in your dream, represent success and wealth. Silver coins represents spirituality, values, and your self-worth. Seeing coins stacked in your dream, symbolizes masculine power, dominance, and energy.

Wow! Did you notice any themes here?

Obviously you are feeling very confined by your illness. It has caused you to lose sight of your dreams and you feel as if you are not contributing the way you feel you ought to be or would like to be. You feel like you did when you were in school, like you have lost your independence. Your subconscience is also warning you not to use your illness as a crutch, hard to hear I know, but thats what I gathered by this statement: "I thought about how I had felt when I first got sick and saw that that had been true physical illness. I had to admit that I was better now, but "untrained" to sit in a classroom." See definition of classroom above.
When your dream shifted to the railroad station, it symbolized that you wanted to start your life in a new direction, travel into some unchartered territory. All of the roadblocks you experienced in your dream indicated your doubts and fears of starting something new at this point in your life. Your illness, money, and the fear of inconveniencing those around you. Despite these setbacks you find that you have more than ample resources to do exactly as you wish. You may have to go to higher authorities to get things done, and you may not have the emotional backing you would like, but; you can achieve whatever it is that you are so scared to do. You don't give yourself nearly enough credit.
Money in a dream can be taken both literally and metaphorically. I, however, am inclined to advise you to take this warning literally. Watch your finances, be sure you have the means before you go plunging into a project.

Whew, I told you that would take a while! So, is your popcorn gone? The wine too, I'm sure... And/ or every trace of coffee within a 5 mile radius... Damn, I am a dork... Seriously though, I thoroughly enjoyed anylizing that dream, I hope I accurately addressed the themes and didn't step on your toes... not that youre not used to that on DD. LOL.

I used to have a dream all the time that I had to redo high school. Like for years after I graduated. I would get to the school and everyone would know I had a diploma, but I still had to redo it. I thought everyone dreamt of school.

FunkMamma -- Thank you for the interpretation. It makes perfect sense. I don't use my illness as a crutch -- but the terrifying hassle I went through to get on disability does make me very afraid to lose it and then find that I'm unable to support myself, a very real possibility. So it gets complicated to try things.

And I am heartened by the fact that my subconscious seems to think that I have the resources, nearly twice as much as I need. I needed $60 in the dream and had $110 if you added it all up. And may I say that I RARELY see a $100 bill in my life!

Thank you again for taking the time to analyze my dream. I am curious to see if I have a "follow up" dream tonight since we have paid particular attention to this one.

Do you think that dreams are altogether messages from the subconcious, or do you believe they may have prophetic aspects or bring in information from outside one's mind, paranormal, I guess?

    Wry.
  10. WryBread
    WryBread
Nell, I never dreamt of school until I got into debt for $10,000 tuition and could not make the monthly payments. The only good thing about becoming disabled was that this debt was forgiven. But getting sick kicked off a theme of dreams about having gone back to school, then gotten sick again and being uable to pay. Exhausting worry.

Do you think that dreams are altogether messages from the subconcious, or do you believe they may have prophetic aspects or bring in information from outside one's mind, paranormal, I guess?
I think it is a combination of both, Wry, I think that our subconscience absorbs a lot of what we are to busy during the day to notice and sorts it all out while we are sleeping. The trick is, learning to remember your dreams.

Some people believe that each one of us has a "Spirit Guide" that guides us throughout our lives. Some people call them our Guardian Angels. They believe that this is the outside inspiration for pre-cognative dreams.

I believe this is true. I, myself, have had lots of pre-cognative, or prophetic dreams. I have dreamt of children getting sick in my arms, my school burning down, my husband sleeping with my best friend; which all, unfortunately came true. I have dreamt of meeting a bearded lady and dropping my labret down the sink, insignificant but also came true.

I don't honestly believe that there is any way that I could have predicted such things without some sort of outside influence. However this is just my opinion, when it comes to spiritual matters like this, I don't like to force my opinions on anyone, but in my experience, this rings true to me.

Thanks for the question! What are your opinions, everyone?

I had a dream about being in school a few nights ago, it was weird. I was the age I am now, and in high school... I had to ride the bus and I had an 18 year old boyfriend. We were roller skating in the halls... I was late to class, because I skipped out to go smoke in the parking lot (like I used to, but am a proud non-smoker now). Then I got lost and had to run accross fields to get there. The school itself was enormous and old, reminded me of Hogwarts from Harry Potter...

I have one scary dream that I have had since I was a child. And it came from a real life event, well really a non event.

My sister and I were in Del Taco I was about 5 or 6 my sister in Jr high. This man was sitting across from us and he was wearing orange nylon shorts (it was in the 80s), and sunglasses. He was sitting across from us a couple tables over and he was staring at us. He did not say anything just stared at us. It was creepy enough that my sister and her friends we VERY uncomfortable, so she called my mom to home get us early. Also this man in his nylon shorts was not wearing underpants and his nuts were hanging out.

Like I said he did not do anything to us, but when ever I have the “bad man” dream, he is always the man. Even sitting here writing about him freaks me out.

My second dream was my spider dream, I dreamt that the spider was HUGE and climbing down a huge spider web that was attached to my bed from the corner of the ceiling. With that one I was sitting up in my bed eyes open, screaming. It scared the hell out of my ex.

FunkMamma -- Since no one else is having any dreams, I'll give you another of mine. I just had this about fifteen minutes ago.

It started with what I think of as my usual dream hassle state -- lots of effort to achieve something, minor misunderstandings and things to clarify, many people involved with muddling things up being their contribution. I'm guessing none of this is too important because I can't remember it clearly and the overall feeling was "business as usual" when I try to bring back the memory.

Then all of sudden, a sandy-haired young man with a crew-cut appeared and posed the question to us all in general, "Who made the animals?" I thought to myself, "Uh oh. Something about this is odd." Someone must have asked him who made the animals because he confidently announced, "God made the animals -- and they are there for us to shoot."

At this point I woke up. It's about 2 hours before my usual waking time, so I figure the dream may have been a message. What do you think?
  18. Funkmama
    Funkmama
    Aspartame:

Dreaming of your childhood indicates your wish to return to a life where you had little responsibility and worries. It also represents innocence. Alternatively, it suggests that certain aspects of your childhood has not yet been integrated into your adult personality. Or, on the other hand, some childhood anxiety has yet to be resolved in your adult life.

Seeing your sister in your dream, symbolizes some aspect of your relationship with her, whether it one of sibling rivalry, caring, protectiveness, etc.

Seeing a stranger in your dream means a part of yourself that is repressed and hidden. So, evidently you need to just give in, throw on the orange nylons, and expose your genitals to the world in all their glory.

Dreaming of testicals represents your feelings toward sex/sexuality and your attitudes toward masculinity/femininity. It also relates to issues of commitment and pleasure.

Dreaming that you are having a conversation with your mother indicates a matter that has preoccupied your mind and you are not sure how to deal with it in your waking life. It indicates unresolved problems that still need to be worked out.

Ok, honestly, if this is a recurring dream, it really bothers me. I feel like there may be some sort of history or repressed memory of sexual abuse inflicted on you and your sister by a stranger. You may want to try meditation or hypnosis to bring that memory to the surface, so you can deal with it properly. I hope this is not true. But thats what it sounds like to me.

    As for the other dream:

Seeing a spider in your dream indicates that you are feeling like an outsider in some situation. Or that you may want to keep your distance and stay away from an alluring and tempting situation. The spider is also symbolic of feminine power. Alternatively, a spider may refer to a powerful force protecting you against your self-destructive behavior. Seeing a spider spinning a web in your dream means that you will be rewarded for your hard work. Since it was in your bed, your hard work probably relates to your home life or your relationship. Spiders are a symbol of creativity due to the intricate webs they spin. On a negative note, spiders may indicate a feeling of being entangled or trapped in a sticky or clingy relationship. It represents some ensnaring and controlling force. You may feel that someone or some situation is sucking the life right out of you. Seeing a spider climbing up a wall in your dream indicates that your desires will be soon be realized.

    Wry:

Thanks for keeping me busy... I get sooooo bored at work. This group is one of three dream interpretation groups I mediate and I still find myself sitting around with my thumb up my ass... Wow, I am a dork. I thought of changing my headline from Dream Queen to Queen of the Dork Forest... LOL, what do you think??

Anywho- As far as this dream being a devine message from God, sure, I bet it is. I do not however think it means what it seems like it means. I mean, we all know that animals are meant for food, so I think God was trying to tell you something much more important, as [S]He tends to do...

Confusion in our dreams mean that you are being pulled in opposite directions or do not know which viewpoint is right. When you dream of anxiety, it might be a reflection of a real anxiety in your own life. You might be conscious of your state or your suffering might be repressed in your inner self.

The sandy haired man in your dream is indicative of the archetypal dream helper who is trying to offer some insight and advice. A messenger.

God in your dream means your spirituality and expression of your feelings about divinity. God also symbolizes an untouchable, unreachable, and unattainable notion of perfection. Dreaming that God speaks to you denotes repressed feelings of guilt.

Animals are an indication that you should be listening more carefully to your instincts. Try to think of the characteristics and particularities of the animal: in your case, food, nourishment, a solution to a problem. Keep in mind that is is more likely referring to a spiritual need more than a physical one.

Hunting indicates that you are seeking or pursuing to fulfill some inner desires, either emotional or physical. You may be in hunt for a solution or in pursuit of some sort of conquest. To kill an animal means that you are trying to repress or destroy an instinctive part of yourself.

It sounds to me like there is some sort of conflict in your life. Like you instinctively feel like you should be doing something that you are not. Maybe somehow you feel guilty. Someone or something is giving you the heebie jeebies. You feel conflicted, like you want to trust what is going on, but something in your gut is telling you otherwise. You are turning a blind eye and letting things transpire against your best wishes. Are you in a relationship with someone you don't trust? Whatever the case may be, I think what the messenger was trying to relay to you is, listen to your gut and stop trying to make excuses for whoever or whatever it is that is making you uncomfortable. He is telling you that God gave you these instincts for a reason.

Hey, funkmama, what's your take on having nightmares about snakes? I have nightmares about snakes more than I have dreams of any other kind.

Sometimes, I dream, but they are usually very frustrating dreams. Once in a while, I will just dream about the day's events. Mostly I have nightmares. So what do ya think or do you need the specifics of the dreams?
  21. michelle
    michelle
So I had this Dream Tuesday night. It woke me up at at 3:15 and I was pissed off.
    Here it is.
Donnie ( my younger bro), Shelia (my younger sis), Rick (my husband) and myself were visiting a local brothel for some fun I suppose. This was a whore house. For whatever reason they would not let me in (I guess they didn't want the competition :).
So all three asses left me sitting in the car and said they would be right back. About an hour goes by and still I sit in the car. Guess they were having a lot of fun. I must not have had keys or you know I would have left.
A fight breaks out in the parking lot and gun shots start. I run into the nearby trees to take cover. Lying on my belly under some fucking tree with bullets ringing out everywhere while they were inside doing whatever they were doing. Approximately 3 hours after they went in they came out and I woke up. I was mad. Not the craziest, but a little out there.
  22. Funkmama
    Funkmama
    Pooh- Hey!!!!!

Seeing a snake or be bitten by one in your dream means hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. The snake may also be seen as phallic (male) and thus symbolize dangerous and forbidden sexuality. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.
  23. Funkmama
    Funkmama
    Michelle,

Dreaming that you are in a brothel indicates dissatisfaction and deprivation in your emotional or sexual relationship. Your physical urges need attention. When they refused to let you in, that represents an obstacle to emotional growth. You may feel hindered in fully expressing yourself [sexually]. The dream may also indicate your resistance to change. When your family left you it reflects feelings of low self-esteem and undesirability more than literal concerns of betrayal or desertion.

Hearing gunshots symbolizes aggression, anger, or potential danger. You may be dealing with issues of passiveness/aggressiveness and authority/dependence. Alternatively, a gun can represent the sexual drive. Also, the gun may mean power and forewarns that you should be careful in not letting your temper get out of control. Dreaming that someone is shooting at you suggests that you are experiencing some confrontation in your waking life. You may feel victimized in some situation. **This situation may involve the people featured in your dream.

When you ducked for cover it indicates a need for security and protection.

So my suggestion is: take your hubby, get shitty drunk, and have some good old-fashioned wild, drunk sex.

    Whooo Hoooo!
  24. michelle
    michelle
That all makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot. I do need some wild sex, it's been awhile. Recently gained some weight and not feeling so confident. Don't even get me started about work. In short, thanks again. Once you said it , I could really see it. Shit, with as busy as we are, I will have to make an appointment for sex.

I had the weirdest dream last night and I am totally serious about this.

Paris and Nicole came over to my house to cause some trouble. It was the house I lived in as a teen and only my sister and I were there.

They brought all these animals over to cause the trouble with, with the intention of letting them die after they were done with their fun.

My sister and I tried really hard to rescue these animals. Specifically it was one guinea pig, 4 hamsters and 2 snakes.

We kept trying to find cages that were big enough for them. We would shuffle them all around to different cages so they would be the most comfortable. We never found a cage big enough for the guinea pig.

and while we were doing all this shuffling, we had to make sure that the snakes stayed away from the hamsters and guinea pig. It was exhausting.

When Nicole and Paris finally left. WE found two more hamsters...DEAD. And we also found an iguana that made the whole cage shuffling thing even more complicated.

All the while I am holding this guinea pig in my hand that is trying desperately to get away, but at the same time I need to protect it from the snakes.

    And then I woke up.
  26. thepooh5
    thepooh5
The snake dreams have always existed. In fact, my first memories are of waking up screaming because of the snake dreams. I started having these nightmares around the age of 2 - I know that sounds whacked, but is confirmed by my mother. I was so conflicted by the dreams, that I did not sleep by myself until I was 12 years old. I was too afraid. I knew I would dream as soon as I went to sleep and I did almost nightly.

These were recurring dreams. I really remember that when I was young, there was about 3 or 4 different dreams that I had. So I would kind of dream a different dream, but yet they were mostly the same dreams, just rotating taking turns of which dream I had. Did that make sense? It sounded crazy.

Today, I don't dream of them as often but I do have a true documented phobia of snakes - I can't look at them on the tv, unless its a cartoon snake, I can't look at real pictures, a snake skin will paralize me, and to try and tease me with a rubber snake, well let's just say, when they put it down, its on and I'm not usually the one who gets hurt.

Also expand on the phallic part. And what you think about the horrible dreams starting at such a young age in my life. Obviously, I wasn't planning on having sex and feeling that it was forbidden.

I'm not saying your interpretation was inaccurate, I'm saying 2 year olds don't know about having sex or if it is right or wrong. I ask you to expand on both parts because I have had another person give me their take. I'll share as soon as you give my your OWN interpretation, as I do not want to influence yours, in any way. I'm wanting to see if you have the same or close to same interpretation.

    Kathy:

    Paris and Nicole?? Really?? ROTFLMFAO!!!

I had a dream that I was kickin it with Lindsey Lohan once, ha ha, no one liked her, and I felt sorry for her so I let her hang out with me. But, shhhhhh. Don't tell anyone about our secret friendship...

Ok, as hard as it is to take this seriously, here ya go:

Seeing a celebrity in your dream, represents your beliefs and understanding about him or her. Something in you waking life has triggered these similar beliefs and feelings.

Hmmm, Paris and Nicole shallow animal killers? No kidding.

A celebrity may also represent your version of someone you really know in life. Consider the qualities that you see in this celebrity and how your friends may have those qualities.

Dreaming of animals suggests that you should be listening to your instincts. Think of the characteristics of each animal: what do you think it refers to? You may need to identify your instincts, as primitive as they can be, and try to find how they can help you in your life. Each animal has also his own significance: Guinea pigs in dreams, represent your need to be more responsible and attentive. Or on another note it suggests that, through experimentation and taking risks, you are learning how and how not to do something. You are learning from your mistakes. Seeing a hamster in your dream, represents underdeveloped emotions. You are distancing yourself from others so that you won't end up getting hurt. It may also indicate that issues of sexuality are trivial to you. You are able to separate sex and love. (hells yeah) The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes. Seeing an iguana in your dream, represents harshness, cold-heartedness, fierceness, and inhuman poise. It is an indication of both hostility and unstoppable determination. The iguana may remind you of someone or some situation in your waking life that you find frightening yet awe inspiring.

Dreaming of torture indicates that you are feeling victimized or helpless in some relationship or situation. Or, it indicates difficulties in carrying your goals and plans for success.

Seeing your sister may draw attention to your family role and sense of belonging.

Dreaming that you are putting an animal into a cage means that you will succeed in overcoming your rivals and fears. It is also symbolic of you being able to control you animalistic rages and anger.

Dreaming that you are trying to escape means your need to escape from a restrictive situation or attitude. Dreaming that you do escape from any situation means your good health and prosperity.

Since there are 2 snakes I think one (snake #1)represents a person around you who can't be trusted. So, the person who can't be trusted is the same as the snake AKA Paris and Nicole. Somehow you attribute someone you know's qualities to theirs. Everyone knows they are fake, shallow, and materialistic, but don't get me wrong, I love them anyway. Maybe these are the qualities you see in that person.

The other snake (#2) represents transformation, knowledge and wisdom.

Your aim was to keep them away from the guinea pig and the hampsters. 4 hampsters suggest that you are putting a lot of extra effort into distancing yourself from others so that you won't end up getting hurt. (snake #1) The guinea pig represents that you are learning from your mistakes (snake #2).

You feel as if this person is out to get you, that they are victimizing you in some way. This is somehow linked to your family role. Although it will be exausting, you will be able to overcome this, you will be able to hold your anger in check, which is a very good thing. In your dream you were desprately trying to escape Paris and Nicole and the snakes (aka person who cant be trusted). In the end you were able to, but not without paying the price of the 2 dead hampsters AKA your ability to trust people. The Iguana indicates a resolve to fight your way through this.

Although there was a lot of symbolism and turmoil here, the end left you with an overall good omen. You have been given a chance to start over, you are wiser than you were when you got into this situation. You will experience a favorable turn of events.

Whew, I hope you understood that at all... HolymotherofJesus that was a hard dream to read.

    Pooh:

A little history of the symbology: (compiled by me, for you)

It is considered evil, yet it is the snake, created by God, that tempts man to gain knowledge. In dreams, a snake can represent hidden fears. If you have a phobia of snakes, you may want to just write your dreams off as nothing more than nightmares. Nightmares typically seem full of symbolism but are to be taken more literally than any other type of dream.

Entwined snakes appear on the god Mercury’s caduceus. The wand with two mating snakes that was held by Hermes, trickster spirit and conductor of souls, and that has come down to us in the symbol of healing found in every physician's office. The Greeks attributed healing powers to the snake and similar symbolism may be found in Indian Kundalini where it represents the life force that rises up the spinal chord. In particular, the cobra is a symbol of divine enlightenment and associated with the god Shiva.

Long before the Greeks, the snake, which sheds its skin, was a symbol of immortality and rebirth, and in cultures worldwide snakes, revered as symbolic of nature's divine life, were the consorts of the Earth Mother.

    Expanding on phallic:

The snake is one of the world's oldest symbols found in some of the most ancient sculptures. They have long been linked with pagan fertility gods. For tens of thousands of years, the phallus was seen not simply as something to stick in a hole to relieve sexual tension or to impregnate women, but was worshipped as the sacred symbol of man's creative power. Representations of the phallus were everywhere, in temples and festivals, on street corners and in front of houses, mounted on chariots in triumphal processions, even in the wind chimes or tintinnabula of Roman homes. Male sexual energy was revered and treated with awe.

    More on Nightmares:
(honestly, I don't believe there is some devine message in your dream, I think it roots from a deep-seeded, irrational fear of snakes)

Everyone has nightmares. For some, unpleasant dreams or nightmares recur repeatedly; for others, the content may change while the theme remains the same, such as scenes of falling, or of being pursued or attacked, late or unprepared for a presentation or an exam, or naked in public, to name a few common themes. This type of experience, when unpleasant, is usually associated with lack of progress by the dreamer to recognize and solve related conflicts in life.

Though it has been scientifically proven that we all dream every night, fear of nightmares or other anxieties or misguided beliefs about dreams and the unconscious can block dream recall. This can usually be overcome by learning about the useful nature of dreams and by recognizing that the majority of nightmares, like a bitter but quite necessary medicine, represent opportunities for personal healing through much-needed emotional release. They are often indirectly warning us about current behavior patterns or psychological imbalances that we need to remedy if we don’t want such unpleasant dreams to repeat, or worsen. Sometimes, such imbalances or patterns resolve themselves as the dream percolates into waking thought and we unknowingly respond and make adjustments in our life. But if we block, deny or ignore such messages from the subconscious for too long, then it usually speaks ‘louder’ to get our attention often by bringing related events, which I call daymares, into our waking hours. These daymares show up as sickness, accidents, relationship difficulties or other unfortunate personal circumstances that force us outright to deal with the issue at hand. Interestingly enough, such events often have repeating themes as well, such as recurring relationship patterns, for example.

Hey, told my boyfriend about your interpritation of his dream. He just looked at me and said "I know." So I was like, you know what? He said everything you said is right. But that he didn't want to say it out loud. The whole house thing was bothersome for me. It is the biggest stress n his life, family, responsibilities. And the weird thing is I don't think it is so much the baby, but he hasn't talked to his Dad in months because he told him it would be better if I lost the baby when I was bleeding early on. And he lists this man in his personal heroes. Sad.

Anyway, I had a weird dream. I dreamt I went to the Dr. for the regular pregnancy checkup, and they told me I had lung cancer. Incurable. So I was just gonna die after I had my c-section. And like no one really cared. I was sitting there going, I don't wanna die, and everyone is like, yeah, sucks to be you. So I left the house walking to get away, and I guess I passed out because I woke up after dark, in a ditch. I was really dizzy and this mexican guy with a case of beer walks by. So I told him I'd give him $10 to walk me home. So we start walking and like halfway there this dog trys to jump on us but it never bites. And then I go in this house (again with the houses) and it is weird. Like I can't really see anyones face and the guy turns into a blond girl. I cannott for the life of me find my way out of this gigantic house. But I didn't feel scared. This girl kept saying, it's like right around the corner!

Ahhh! Sorry, that was confusing. Hmm.

Nell- hey! um... I erased the dream since it was so personal. I figured I was right. Which kinda sucks in a way. For him. My family wanted me to get an abortion. They thought I couldn't do it without him (Brad - daddy). The thought I was weak and I couldn't take care of myself, much less a baby. I just fucking love proving people wrong. IN FACT, I have done more in the past two years than most people do in 10... Gotten out of debt, graduated, bought a house, started a career.... SO FUCK THEM. (May I mention, they are all singing a much different tune now that they have fallen head over heels in love with him) Tell his dad to stop hating and get the fuck over it. You have enough hormonal problems without having to deal with that bullshit. Not to mention the stress from bleeding, that must have been devastating! Ugh, that just pissed me the fuck off!

Soooo... I have been working hard for you bitches today, LOL.
    Here's your dream:

Dreaming that you are seeing the doctor indicates discouraging illness and strife amongst members of your family. It may signal your need for emotional and spiritual healing.

Dreaming that you have cancer means hopelessness, grief, self-pity, and unforgiveness. You feel you are wasting your life away. This dream also represents areas in your life which are bothering you, disturbing you, and hurting you in some emotional way.

Lungs may indicate a stressful situation and refer to a relationship/situation in which you feel suffocated.

Dreaming of an illness in your dream indicates despair, unpleasant changes, and an emotional breakdown. The illness may be symbolic of your inability to cope with a situation and you see that being ill is an easy way out. On a more direct note, this dream may signal you to pay close attention to your health especially to the areas of body revealed in the dream.

Dreaming of nighttime means some major setbacks and obstacles in achieving your goals. You may find that some issues you are facing are not all that clear and you need to put them to rest for awhile before a decision is made.

Seeing a ditch in your dream, forewarns that there is something in your waking life that you need to avoid. Consider the symbol to also be pun and as en expression of your guilt for ditching school, work, appointment, etc. Dreaming that you fall into a ditch indicates that you may be headed into a pitfall.

Dreaming of or drink beer, represents happiness, fogginess, or inspiration. It also indicates that you have quite a social life.

Seeing a dog in your dream, indicate a skill that you have ignored or forgotten, but needs to be activated. Alternatively, dogs may symbolize intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection, and fidelity. Your own values and intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and succeed.Seeing a happily barking dog in your dream, symbolizes pleasures and much social activity. If the dog is barking ferociously, then it represents your habit of making demands on people and controlling situations around you. It could also mean unfriendly companions.

Dreaming that you are following directions, represents your need or ability to accept criticism. It also relates to your feelings about authority. You are on a path toward self-realization.

So honestly Nell, as much as I hate to report this, it sounds like the shit is about to hit the fan. Luckily for you, after its all said and done, you can expect that it will all end on a good note. Your subconscience is giving you lots of ample warning, so just try and keep your cool and see it through. Its all gonna be ok.

    Much love!

You my dear are spookin me out! It was good to erase his dream, it was kinda personal. But I was talking to him today, and he told me the thing he worries about is that I won't be happy after the baby is born, and I will leave him. I won't, but the baby is freaking me out. I am full of fail as a mom in my mind because I don't have any of my kids. They weren't taken away but I haven't had the best 4 years previously and I worry I will mess up my last chance at this. AAHH! I told him until the baby is born we will worry, but it will be ok. Big sigh. I am ambivilent. And I hate to even admit that.

By the way. He asked if he could put some kind of tracker on the computer to see where I go and what I do all day, cause he had that stupid nightmare again. I told him ok, cause I have nothing to hide, but is that weird?

Oh Nell! I don't have much time right now but I just had to take a minute to let you know that I am here for you whenever you need me. You will not mess this up, if you try your hardest, there is no room for failure. You need to come to terms with whatever happened and leave it behind and move forward. Thats all you can really do.

I think he is invading your privacy a bit too much. Even if you have nothing to hide. That's not normal. I hate to say this but he may be harboring guilt of his own. Talk with him, he has become manic over nothing more than a dream. He is overanylizing and not listening to thousands of years worth of study on his dream's symbolism. He has crossed the line in my opinion, no one should be subjected to that kind of scrutiny. Its not fair to you, and especially not to your baby. Nell, I know you love him, but tell him to trust you and back off.

FunkMamma, I thought about your interpretation of my "God made the animals and they are there for us to shoot!" I thank you for your insight. I wouldn't have been able to work with the dream for so long if I hadn't had that boost. My decision finally is that it relates to the Bible verse that says God gave dominion over the animals to "Man." I have always resisted this idea because it has justified so much cruelty. But in my dream I think the animals represent resources. That was what the Bible meant in the end, I think (not that I care much what the Bible says or am a scholar). So I think the dream is saying, "Don't hesitate to use opportunities or resources because they are there to be used." Thank you for your help.

The night before last I had a dream. It all faded before I awoke, except for the one word, "Believe." That's all I remember, the word believe. It's sort of obvious in one way, but do you have other insights?
  37. Funkmama
    Funkmama
I had a dream like that once. I dreamt that I saw hands with an open book in them and all I heard was the word "teach". Pretty cut and dry. I don't think these dreams meant anything more than what they obviously mean. Not saying they weren't powerful. I know mine was. I have always wanted to write a book... on dreams of course. Maybe my guide was giving me the go ahead. I don't know.

I am glad that you found an interpretation for your dream. As I said earlier I don't know anyones past experiences or beliefs, so all I can do here is give a starting point, a reference. Dream symbolism has been studied for centuries, and I can pass along that knowlege, not much more really. I don't claim to be a "dream reader" or "psychic". Thanks for all of your imput in this group, Wry, I have really, really enjoyed this little project.

Thank you for the support Funkmama. It is a long story, but when you have identified yourself as a mother for 12 years, and then through stupidity (prescription pills) see it all go away and your kids end up split, 2 with your parents and 2 with their dad.....well, even if you placed them there yourself you feel pretty fuckin awful. That is the fail I mean. I had them and I raised them until 2006 pretty well. But then...well, I shouldn't be posted with the parents here but..FAIL! That is how I feel about that. You know how people on here say they wish these idiot moms and dads had emailed them, they would love 2 take their baby? Yeah, I've actually strongly considered doing that. Just PMing Kathy or Imp and saying, "were you serious? Cause if so do I have a deal for you! One brand new white infant girl, made myself! Almost guaranteed not to be defective or crazy, but look at her mama. So we will go with 98% guarentee. Come on out to beautiful Oregon and pick up this one of a kind item!" Yeah, I talk 2 myself like that. I am weird.

But now, for your moment of comic relief, before we all start balling. I had a dream and the only part I can remember is some big girl was giving my boyfriend a BJ with a paper bag over the top of her face. Isn't that weird? What the hell.

Oooh Nell don't be so hard on yourself. Shit like that happens. You will get them back. I admire you for doiing what is best for them instead of letting the problem worsen. That is commendable. Oh, and btw, your inner monologue is absolutely nuts! LOL...

A girl giving your man a blowjob with a brown paper bag over her face, huh? Either its your typical nightmare or precognative. I think it may be the outside influence your hearing about his dreams. Or possibly, he is having these dreams because he feels guilty and you are picking up on that subconsciously. I am not saying he is cheating on you. So dont go getting mad at him. However, I might suggest to spy on him a little, since he feels its so necessary to do it to you.

So, why am I up at 7:30am on a Sunday morning?? I had lots of crazy dreams last night myself. I couldn't find a pen to write them in my journal, so I drudged, sleepy eyed downstairs to write them down here. When I am done, I'm hitting the couch and watching Noggin with the rugrat...

1st dream: I was at a bar and saw one of my best friends, John. John and I have a long history of being in love with eachother but keeping our friendship strong by not giving into those urges... too often... it has happened a few times and it was wonderful... LOL. Anyway, John starts buying me drinks and although I don't remember the exact conversation, I can tell he loves me. We just hang out at the bar getting sloshed and he says, "Hey Lauren, I got something to show you." I follow him out to the parking lot where he gets into this beautiful dark blue Mercedes convertable. I was like, "Wow is this yours?" He just grinned and said "Nope". He hotwired the car and gunned it. Straight into a lake. We climbed out and he just started laughing. We were both soaking wet in the lake hugging and laughing. There was some kind of festival out in the streets, but no one seemed to have noticed what we had done. We went back to the bar, and I went accross the way to get something. I saw a friend of mine there and told her what we had done. I went to point it out and there were police crawling everywhere, and extracting the car from the water. I felt the need to go down there and tell them what happened because I was scared that if they found out I was involved and didn't come forward, they would take my son away. I basically ratted John out. Which I feel shitty about, even awake...

Dream #2: I was at the beach with a big group of friends in a hotel room. I was giving everyone free haircuts. In waking life I am a lisenced cosmotologist, but my career is in accounting. I call myself the Kitchen Beautician. There were 4 or 5 of us. We packed up and hit the road to come home. My friend, Rich was driving and I was in the backseat. We got stuck in traffic and Rich was telling us about how proud he was of his new car and how the insurance was so expensive... He proceded to rearend the people in front of us twice. A cop happened to be driving by and blue lighted us and offered to give us a ride home. He let a girl friend of mine drive and she pulled out on the wrong side of the road. I asked her what she was doing and she jack knived the car to go the right way. Somehow we all ended up in the neighborhood I grew up in. I saw my parent's house but didn't go inside, I thought I was locked out. Suddenly this schitzophrenic black man (Shaft, he actually exists) runs out of my parent's house naked. I noted how small his dick was for a black man, LOL. One of the preacher's daughters from up the street ran outside behind him rambling about how she was taking care of him and he went crazy and it made her late to work... weird huh? So, we went up the street, at this point I had lost most of my group, and my old neighbor Steve came out. He said he was moving to New York in two weeks because he met a woman. I asked if his 2 sons Justin and Eric, both dear friends of mine, were gonna stay in Greenville. He said they were and gave me their phone numbers... Thats it, thats all I remember. Strange.

I want to interpret my dreams, but first I am going to catch some Noggin with my little man. I'll do it later.

Okay here's my recurring dream since 2004...

I dream my husband is trying to kill me in different ways for example for 1 year I dreamed he had a gun with a red laser dot that I would see pointed at my chest or head. I wake up and scream at him why are you trying to kill me? He says "what the fuck are you talking about".

I have dreamt he was doing some voodoo shit like in the Skeleton Key, he chants shit in whispers in my ear. Half awake I yell at him and he says I'm not doing anything to you.

Or he is trying to suffocate me, poison me, or push me into a different dimension! Just different variations of craziness all ending in him offing me.

My dreams have not been as frequent lately, but for awhile they were at least 1x a week!

My ex was abusive for 11 years, I have thought subconsciously that I expect my husband to hurt me and I am suspicious because he hasn't! He barley raises his voice to me!

I have similar recurring dreams. My husband used to paint electrical towers, poles and cell phone towers. He traveled all over. The kids and I usually went with him, but then a lot of shit happened in our lives.

Before Mr Hip had his "mid life crisis" or whatever you want to call it...for a couple years he was keeping some big lies from me....I would constantly have this dream that he would be on the road and I couldn't locate him. No one had a phone number. I would try desperately trying to call his mother, friends, brother, boss, anyone I could think of to reach him.....and I never could. After the shit in our marriage and I found out what the fuck he'd been doing for a couple years, those dreams stopped. The fuck of it is, those dreams were going on the same time Mr. Hip was fucking up. Weird huh?
Anywho now that I know the shit that happened. There is a new dream. This dream Mr. Hip leaves me. He loathes me, hates my fucking guts. I'm always crying in the dream. Telling him I don't want him to go. Sometimes I am chasing him in the car as he leaves down the road.

Ya got that Mama? Before I found out about the "shit" I had the one dream all the fucking time. Now that I've known about the shit, this different dream, but again it is usually the dream I have.

What is this one trying to tell me?

Now in retrospect I look at the other dreams of not being able to find Mr Hip.... as he was lost to me in another way. Does that make sense?

My dreams are so vivid and most of the time I wake up wired as fuck.

    Peace~

I read all the posts, and can almost interpret my own recurring dream, using all the valuable info you've shared already. But I'm putting it out here, just to hear your thoughts, when you have time to get to it!

I dream a lot, but re-run one dream every few months or so. It involves me, in my Grandma's house (where we lived for several months when I was in the 5th grade and she was dying of cancer), and I'm frantically trying to lock things up ... all the windows and screen door latches, etc. I keep remembering one more lock that I overlooked, and rush there to lock it. I feel so much better with each little lock I remember. There's something, or someone, outside that I'm wanting to be safe from, but that's never really part of the dream. It's just me, locking doors and windows. The End.

Sorry it took so long Miss Hill, I have been working my fucking ASS off this week. Fucking audits. Ugh.

You are having Night Terrors. Night terrors are relatively rare, affecting only a small percentage of people. However frightening, night terrors aren't usually cause for concern.

Various factors can contribute to night terrors, including:

    Fatigue.
Night terrors are more likely when you are overly tired.
Stress. Problems at home, work, or other stressful events trigger night terrors.
Illness. Sometimes being sick triggers night terrors, especially if the illness is accompanied by a fever.
Medications. Medications, typically for mood disorders, might trigger night terrors.

Though the symptoms of night terrors in adolescents and adults are similar, the etiology, prognosis and treatment are very different. Adult night terrors are much less common and are usually trauma-based rather than genetic.

Personally I think these terrors stem from your former abusive husband. You are scared that this is going to happen in your current marriage and that fear is manifesting itself in a nightmare/ terror. Therapy is the best way to keep these types of dreams away. I sometimes reccomend melatonin, if there is a lot of abnormal stress in your life at the time of the terrors. However in your case, I think therapy may be the route to go, since this stems from a real problem. There is nothing to be ashamed of, I go to one. Melatonin may also cause you not to recall other important dreams that may help you in waking life.

    Here is some symbolism:

Seeing your husband in your dream means your relationship with your husband and the unconscious feelings you have towards him.

Dreaming that you are murdered, suggests that some important and significant relationship has been severed and you are trying to disconnect yourself from your emotions. It also represents your unused talents. Note also that dreams of murder occur frequently during periods of depression.

Whoo hoo, Hippie, you were having my personal favorite kind of dream here. This is a precognative dream. Your subconscience or your spirit guide is telling you what was going on, metaphorically of course. You are right on target when you say:
.... as he was lost to me in another way.
You are very intuitive. You could probably master lucidity relatively quickly, since you seem so in tune with your spirituality. DO IT!!! I cannot begin to express to you the freedom you get when you can jump up in the air, cut a few flips, and fly away to another world....

There is a new dream. This dream Mr. Hip leaves me. He loathes me, hates my fucking guts. I'm always crying in the dream. Telling him I don't want him to go. Sometimes I am chasing him in the car as he leaves down the road.
This is a release dream. Obviously you still love him, despite what he's done. No one can identify with you more than me, my friend. I still have those dreams, and I don't think they will ever stop... However, thats a whole different story... I don't think going into symbolism is very pertinent in this dream. This is simply your subconscious acting out various alternatives on what you feel you should have, would have, or wanted to do.

My dreams are so vivid and most of the time I wake up wired as fuck.
Thats low-level lucidity. Work on it Hip, you will love it.

    Thanks for posting!
