Terrific two's with Nicolas

Rate this Entry
My son Nico, you just had your 2nd birthday and I was watching you the other day, all the little things and big things you do with an extra *cute* to it.

Pitter-patter is exactly right. If it isn't those cute feet pattering on the floor I see you sporting the biggest grin as you march, march, march or tippty-toe across the floor. Language is the milestone you are having fun with. Mama, mama, mama is the ever constant chant from you as you to get my attention for most everything. You are now putting 2 even 3 words together and I know that it is a bit early for you to take the challenge of 3 word sentences, but there you are. It's not, "all done", anymore instead, you'll say, "femished, mama, here go..."....so sweet and very impressive. The absolute cutest of all phrase is when we work on puzzles together and you exclaim, "ta-da, lookie" with a grin and hands up in the air! the most adorable sight ever!

I especially love that you are finding now that your favorite person is mama. You are so different from your brother as he was very clingy as a baby and it was mama for everything, but you seemed so independent from early on, but now, its mama, mama as you go to bed and mama, mama as you open those beautiful eyes.

You are exploring with independence and readily expressing displeasure as you "pbffft", at me with those pouty lips, that makes me laugh and tickle those toes. Still, there are those hair raising moments as you holler on the top of your lungs as you say "no, mama", cry and implore to the injustice as I tell you its time to nap. You insist on Mickey Mouse as the show you watch before nap time, you insist by saying "mimmie moushe....mama", as you hand me the remote and say "on". You sure know how to get your way as you bat those long lashes and grin sweetly and stick that thumb in your mouth....and not far behind, your favorite blankie trails behind you.

The sweetest thing ever is when you are tired and come to me, "mama, mama.....seepy, me-me time now"...(sleepy time now). I pick you up and you curl to my chest as I take you to your room. Your day ends with the soft sounds of mama singing to you your favorite lullaby...."twinkle, twinkle little star". You dreamily look up at me as I say, mama loves you sleepy head, time now to rest, and kiss your forehead. You say, "ootay, mama....." and blow a kiss for me, that I'm always sure to catch.

I cherish every single moment, every single one. It matters not that I get tired or frustrated at times, its all part of being a mama and you my darling Nicolas, put the "ta-da" to the end of my day. I love you with all my heart, thank you for now taking the place as my little shadow as once your brother did. We share and learn together on this new journey I call the "terrific two's".

LoVe and HuGs, precious one, your mama always.

You can't get too much more loved than that!

You should save what you wrote and show it to him some day.

Pete, I suspect you were actually born under a rock.

As the poster above me stated, you should save this and show it to him one day.

I clicked on this blog because my son and husband are both named Nicolas (Nico) and you do not see it spelt this way very often. My son will be 8 tomorrow.

Thanks everyone and Pete, I seriously hope you are joking.

I forgot to add, Nicolas' favorite thing to say lately is "oh, my, Dod!"......heh, heh....yes, after mama, but he says if for almost everything and its so cute.

And I do email these to myself and print and post in his journal, somehow I do better typing than writing!

Lagrima, thanks for the comment, yeah, Nicolas is his great, great, grandfather's name. Everyone was so pleased I went with that name. Welcome to the site!
