The Adventures of Buck and Aiya.

So, little Miss Marley was over last night and, while she can pronounce some words quite expertly ("babies" and "candy" being among them), Mike's and my names are not among them. Mike is "Buck" and I am "Aiya". It works for me for now - a three syllible name with a "th" in the middle is not kid friendly, and at least I finally have an identity seperate from that of her mother (she called me "Alex" for awhile).
I can't wait until my girl is that age. Marley is absorbing things so quickly. In preparation for Halloween (I start early in this household), I taught Marley how to say "Braiiiins..." She's quite proficient with her growly little kid voice. I think that, at almost 2, she'll be old enough to wear some face makeup and some fake blood, right? I certainly hope so, because she'll look a little funny wandering around growling "Braiiiins..." if she's dressed as a princess or bumblebee or something.
Anyway, Sunday morning, I fly out for St. Louis. Not looking forward to it, either. How do you pack for 90 degrees AND thundershowers? I'm just going to pack for 90 degrees. As a Seattleite, I don't mind getting wet.
Of course, any discomfort the weather provides will be overshadowed by the gestational diabetes diet! Of course, I fly out for a week, my entire trip - food and entertainment - funded by the company... and I'm limited to fucking egg whites and wheat toast!
Talk about the angel and the devil on the shoulders. Mine are in real life. My sister is like, "What's one more week going to do? It's not like if you splurge a little, the kid's coming out with a third eye." Then there's my hyper-paranoid best friend, who's like, "OMG! What are you going to do?!? You're just going to have to switch to a room with a fridge and go grocery shopping..."
Right now, the devil is winning the argument (as has been the case for years)...
Then there's Mike. Mike's going camping for the entire time I'm gone. Other than the dog, he'll be alone for a lot of it, as friends can only come out a day or two at a time. I actually wonder if he prefers it that way. I'll miss not being able to call whenever I have a chance (I doubt his phone will have reception), but it's good to know he'll be happy and occupied while I'm gone.
So, I'll be in the STL from Sunday evening until Friday afternoon, and I'll be in training from 8:00am to 5:00pm, roughly. I'll still have plenty of time after training to get around and see some things... any of you ever been to St. Louis and have some suggestions?
