TMS' new job in NYC Day 1

So, I think I am ready.
I have new clothes, train schedules, subway maps, the company phone number programmed in my phone, $100 in my pocket, 2 packs of smokes (just to make me feel better about not being able to smoke), and a tin of Snus. I get everything ready and lay it out for the morning and get to bed sober on a Sunday at a reasonable hour.
Sometime in the night, the a/c decides to die. Noooooo. I toss and turn in this 80 degree room and barely sleep. The alarm goes off at 7:00 and I wake up as a ball of sweat. I had a shower the night before, but I need another so I take a quick one and get dressed. I come out of the bathroom and what do I hear? Rain and its fucking heavy. I get dripped on by the roof. Noooooo. There is no time to deal with this. Looking around franticly, I realize I have no rain gear! FUUUUUUUUUUUCCCKKK!!! I decide to drive the block to the train.
I get to the train only a little soggy and the announcement says trains are running 20 min late because of "police activity". God dammit! Fuck it, I smoke on the platform and anyone who even looks like they are going to say something gets the look from me and the shrink away into the downpour. The train was on time. Woo-hoo!
I get to Trenton, buy my monthly pass (Owieeeeeee) and catch the 8:09 express. Nice ride besides being hot. I get into NYC 3 min late which I think is decent. I get a call to meet the bosses somewhere totally different than the new office. No big deal, I love the subway!
I buy my metro pass and ask a cop if I am heading in the right direction. She says no and sends me across the street. BITCH!!! I was 4 stops uptown before I realized what was going on. So there is 10 min wasted + 10 min waiting for the C going downtown.
I get off at the correct spot and walk to where we are supposed to meet. Oh joy, we get to move from the old office into the new one ( I thought they already moved ). Keep in mind I dressed nicely for my first day.
Huge van load done by 3:00 then off to Redhook for some new stuff. I could wring the sweat from my hair.
The new office is amazing! Just off Union Square with a full bathroom, kitchen and a currently empty loft I can use if I need to sleep over.
All day moving stuff then we get to talk work for another 2 hours. I caught the 8:07 home = 14.5 hour day including commute. I get home to a sweltering house. Oh yea! the A/C is dead. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I got home at 10:00, have to go to bed by 11:30.
I take a shower to cool off in more way than one and when I come out, Raq is going out the door - huh? Turns out her mom just bought a new A/C and she was going to pick up the old one. Its a 20 min drive and it just wasn't fair for her to do this.
She took pity on me and wouldn't take "no" for an answer, nor would she let me go with her. Thank god for a good woman. I'm beyond beat.
I'm not thinking about the roof.
I'm not thinking about the roof.
