It's almost unfair that she is even in the competition at all.

I've only seen one episode of Idol this year because, aside from Crystal, they're nothing but glorified (and sometimes not even that) karaoke singers. And Crystal? Solid in comparison, but we gotta bitch that that on every other street corner down town. The only difference is, they're still struggling with their addictions.

So, yeah, Idol has nothing to offer me this year.

And, you know, while I found The Hurt Locker to be a good movie, I didn't think it was Best Picture good. Of course, no fuckin' WAY did Avatar deserve it. Not sure what did, though. I guess it was just a weak year, maybe.

Okay, well... I'm going to take my grouchy ass right the hell outta this blog, now.

But it really wasn't a weak year...at least I didn't think so. The nominees for best pic were:

Avatar - Great movie

The Blind Side - Oscar bait, but not bad

District 9 - Amazing film, but not Oscar material

An Education - No clue

The Hurt Locker - Amazing movie with some of the best filmed scenes of tension I have watched in a long time

Inglourious Basterds - This is the only film that I thought came close to beating Hurt Locker. I LOVED it, but still.

Precious - Fantastic film full of surprising performances

A Serious Man - It's the Cohens...I'm biased. I love everything they do.

Up - Another great movie, but no way it would have won

Up in the Air - One of my all time favorite Clooney films. Great movie that succeeds in making loners like myself not want to be loners...for about a day.

I have to disagree about Crystal... Siobhan Magnus all the way, she's the only one who sounds like a professional already. Crystal is okay but she isn't as good as Siobhan and she doesn't have a cool name like her either.

Fair enough. I suppose I just wasn't feelin' it this year. Then again, I've been in a bit of a mood since, oh... November or so.

And I have mixed feelings about Avatar. Some of the most amazing eye candy to be seen in a theater? Yes. The exact same fucking plot as ANY foreign-invasion-of-an-indigenous-people film? Yes. So, I have a hard time with a movie that gets mad points for originality and zero points for originality all at the same time.

I was dragged kicking and screaming to Avatar. My hubby thought that I would love it because, I guess, being a SF geek means that people think you like crap. It was visually stunning. Otherwise, it's a big rip off and I HATE lining the pockets of that asshole James Cameron. He was so disappointed when I walked out saying "it was okay, but definitely not the best movie ever."

I can't be hating on Cameron. I may not like him (I do not like or dislike him on a personal level) but the man has created some of my favorite films and has advanced movie making in the process.

Piranha 2, The Terminator, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and True Lies? Come on...the man is ok with me even if he is Canadian.

I hate Cameron because he's a sleazy dirtbag. It's horrible that a good deal of my favorite movies are by him as well but after he left Linda Hamilton for that skank Suzy Amis, I swore he'd never get another dime of my money...

Linda Hamilton was\is bi-polar and pretty nuts. I'd have left her too.

Linda Hamilton received $50 million dollars in her divorce settlement. I would put up with alot more than she did for a payday like that.
