Dominican Republic or Costa Rica

I am planning on going away for my birthday.

Since my husband will not be "available" to celebrate with me I will celebrate by going away. It is only a 5 day trip.

I have narrowed the places to go to Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.

Has anyone been to either of these countries? Any advice?

I am leaning more towards Costa Rica (at the moment).
