Dominican Republic or Costa Rica

I am planning on going away for my birthday.

Since my husband will not be "available" to celebrate with me I will celebrate by going away. It is only a 5 day trip.

I have narrowed the places to go to Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.

Has anyone been to either of these countries? Any advice?

I am leaning more towards Costa Rica (at the moment).

    My daughter Luna just turned 8. Her bff's at school have older sisters (teens). The little ones like to listen in on the sister's conversations and discuss them at school. This happened tonight.
