So do we have any fellow Ghost Hunters here on Dreamin' Demon? I was just wondering as I myself am starting to get into the Paranormal Research Field. My friend Jeff and I... as it turns out, are both quite interesting in Ghosts and things like that. And as "luck" would have it, the house he recently moved into has a certain type of "energy" to it.

We've both taken lots of photos (with two separate digital cameras) and both managed to catch orbs and other mysterious objects. I've sat up my video camera and ran it overnight. Caught lots of unexplainable sounds (bangs, booms, and other odd sounds). I have two tapes of audio I recorded but haven't fully finished investigating yet.

We plan on re-going through his house fully once I get my IR light for my camera. I was just wondering if anyone else on here does any kind of Paranormal Research? Or if anyone has some interesting Ghost Stories to share. Or even what kind of equipment you use.

I record on a Sony Handycam, onto MiniDV (with an IR light in the works so we can actually SEE in the dark). I can either upload the video onto my computer, or watch it on the spot through my a portable DVD screen I recently purchased. For audio I have a single Radio Shack Brand, wireless audio recorder. It records over to these little casset looking things, it's a pretty nice little unit as it has a red light on the top of it that flashes when it picks up audio, makes for (hopefully) some good EVP work. My latest toy is an EMF Meter that I picked online for right around $50.00. It works good, but I want one with a digital readout as apposed to mine which as a needle with audible alarm.

I have a couple good stores... if anyones interested :diablo:

I wish I believed in ghosts, as that would make things a bit more fun for me. However, I would LOVE to investigate "supposedly" haunted areas. An idea we had for the site back in the day was to actually go visit all the more popular "haunted" spots and do a review of sorts.

I love creepy places, but I just do not believe in ghosts or spirits (or alien piloted UFO's). But that doesn't mean I don't love the subject of paranormal and supernatural. So by all means, share your stories, just don't take it personally if you get any negative responses. ;)

I would love to hear your tales, but more because I am fascinated with the belief in ghosts, rather than the ghosts themselves. I recently watched "1408" and thought it was a cool concept for a flick. Sounds like what Morbid was suggesting for us to do.

If I had the equipment, I would definitely take some of my friends out.

I think the most important thing I can start out by saying is that when I go to a house (or whatever) to look into it for possible paranormal activity, I don't go in with a mindset of this house is haunted... I have to find something. That's the wrong way to go it. You have to look at things from a skeptics perspective.

I'll talk about my friend Jeff's house here for a while, since that's the one that I'm currently working on. Jeff recently bought an old two story house here about a year or so ago. Ever since he has moved in, this house has always just felt like it's had a certain "energy" to it. It's hard to explain... but you can just feel it.

One of the first things you'll pick up on is the fact that nothing will keep a charge at his house. Everything from cell phones to TV remotes seem to die incredibly fast. I have to leave my phone on the charger when it's not in use... otherwise it'll completely drain itself in a couple hours. Jeff has the same problem and he lives there. No, neither phone is in roaming. And no, it doesn't do it in every part of the town. Just his house.

The front room, near the downstairs bedroom and the front door especially appear to be the two main hot spots (although the kitchen and basement both have had things going on in them). These two areas are where the orbs show up. I know what most people think when they hear orbs. Dust. You'll just have to trust me that it's not dust. Photography is a side hobby of mine, I know what dust looks like on film. I've caught dust plenty of times at his house. I've also caught many things (using more than one camera) that simply aren't dust. I'll have Jeff e-mail them to me so I can post photos.

We had an interesting experience in his Kitchen, I was staying over for a few nights helping him remodel his downstairs bathroom. We left for a quick trip to the hardware store and when we came back a bunch of his cabinet doors where wide open. The two directly under the sink, and three hanging on the wall. To this day I have no explanation for this. He dog was staying with someone else. And we weren't working in the kitchen.... we were busy in the bathroom. There was no reason why any of us would have opened the kitchen cabinets... let alone left them open.

The basement light has been known to turn on by itself. Jeff works the night shift, and when he comes home usually finds the basement light on. There is never really any specific reason to go to the basement. It's another one of those odd things that can't be explained.

Recently we took my equipment and did a sweep of the house. I didn't find anything out of the normal with my EMF meter, no high levels electricity. We ran both audio and video over night. We actually stayed up until 3 in the morning, set everything up and then crashed until about one in the morning the next day.

I've been completely through the tape and it's showed some interesting things. First off there is a very strange tapping sound that can be hear on and off throughout the entire tape. I don't know what caused it, but it's on both the Video and the Wireless Audio... so SOMETHING was tapping. I managed to catch one Orb that flies by the screen in a really odd "U" shaped pattern. You can also hear numerous creaks, thumps, taps, ext... on the tape. Whats really strange is you can tell that things are coming from different parts of the house.

You'll hear something and it'll sound like it's off in the kitchen. The next time it sounds like its right under the camera. Then it'll move to in front of it. It's very interesting stuff.

I haven't had the time to go through the audio yet. But I can't wait to see what it picks up (as the wireless is much more sensitive than the video camera).

... I'm trying to think if I've missed anything or not. I'll post more if I think of it/find more. I figure this is a good starting point.

Discuss... lol.

Ghosts probably want to be left alone, that's why they hide. Otherwise they'd be everywhere; nonhumans too. Stop wrecking their day.

Great stories KillBill. I definitely believe in ghosts. My father grew up in a house with ghosts, loads of cool stories. I live in a house with ghosts. This old farm house was built in 1923 by my stepfather's father. It has always been in the family. So our ghosts, are cool with us being here. It is a very special house. Most of my stepfathers siblings were born here in the house. A baby died here (my stepfather's sibling), my stepfather's father died in this house and my own mother died here. We hear footsteps on the stairs. We have doors open and close. I also see apparitions about the house at various times. Couple weeks ago, I was sitting where I am now, at the kitchen table with the laptop and felt someone poke my shoulder from behind, I thought it was one of my kids and I turned around....well, no one was there, well there was someone there but I could not "see" them. Only feel them. My little sister who also grew up in the house, has heard some of the same things I have. I think it's pretty cool.
I have also encountered "different things" at other places I've been.
Great thread. I'm anxious to hear more stories and share more stories.
Peace....

Hippiepoet, sounds like quite a fun house! Have you ever tried to do any EVP work? Maybe you could find out why they've chosen to stick around the house for so long. I think, in situations like the one you described, that you have a ghost that wants to get across some type of message. You should consider some EVP work, or setting up a video camera. You never know what you'll catch.

I finally had a chance to sit down and go through my wireless audio. I recently updated to a different audio setup, one with a built in microphone... and unfortunately almost all of my audio was distorted by the grinding of the gears inside the deck. I bought a big external mic and stand unit, so I shouldn't have that problem anymore.

Kyle,
No we have not done anything like that. My eleven year old daughter finds it all fascinating. She wants to set up recorders and video cameras. I told her equipment costs money. I confess to loving the show Ghost Hunters. I'd love them to visit our house. I know my mother is here, or at least comes to visit, I smell her here. She also came and visited when both my babies were born. I lived in other places at that time. I feel comfortable with the spirits that are here, because I know they are family, and they make me feel safe. (call me weird, I believe strongly in spirits and their love for the folks or places they've left behind). We've had similar things that you've described...lights being on when we know we did not turn them on, the back door opens and shuts some times before someone comes over. That is strange as hell, as one night my husband was returning home and I was expecting him late. I saw lights reflect on the back door and then I heard it open and close. I get up and I don't see our van, I go to the back door and it is closed. All was quiet. About 5-10 min. later my husband pulls in the driveway. That was a tad freakish (considering it was like 2am), but I love it and like I said, I have no fear of spirits. I just think it's pretty cool. Stair steps get me sometimes, because I'll think it's one of the kids coming up the steps and I'll call to them or look, only to find out, it's a spirit. I used to hear the steps descending but now it is almost always ascending, and I'm usually upstairs, making the bed or folding clothes in my room....never fails. That makes me think it's my mom.
Share more stories. Surely more folks here have had encounters with those who refuse to go....
Peace,
Laura

Jeff sent this to me in my e-mail the other day. This is a photo of the old church that used to sit next door to his house (the city is in the middle of taking it down, but only got about half finished and now hasn't worked on it in months), this was taken when he first moved into his house.

We're not sure exactly what is going on with it. You can see some weird type of rings in the top right, and down by the tree there are some really odd green lights. We have done some research, and have a pretty good idea but instead of me telling you... we'd like to see what everyone thinks. Check out my YouTube video and let me know!

It is the reflection on the glass the photo was taken through. The artifact at the top right is obviously a series of lamps usually found on ceiling fans.

Kyle, that's a really interesting photograph. I wonder if the UFO devotees might find it way more relevant than ghost hunters, mainly because the green spots seem to mirror the rings above. It almost looks more mechanical than ghostly to me.

We used to live quite near something called The Spook Light in Missouri. It was actually just off some acreage we rented for a few years. I never saw the lights myself, but then i wasn't hanging out there at midnight much. People who did see the lights described them similarly to your photo. Culty types were always hanging out there, and to my knowledge nobody's ever figured out what causes the aurora-like light displays in the area.

I do think that some people are just hyperkinetic. I drain cell phones in hours, laptops have to stay plugged in all the time with me or they die. I can't wear a watch, lightbulbs go out within weeks, and i've killed more than one television when i got pissed - they go zzzt and die and that's it. If that means i'm gonna be a ghost, then cool. I will haunt this site and make my EVPs talk dirty. :) Personally, i love Ghost Hunters, partly because i think Gonsalves is hot. I kinda hate the new guy on GH International, though. I think there are conscious entities we can't explain yet, but i also think a lot of hauntings are secondary to a hyperkinetic person living in the area. I had a lot of paranormal experiences as a kid, but not so much anymore.

I dunno what's in your picture. It's pretty cool. What do you think it is?

Basically there are three running theories on this one:

1.) It's paranormal. You're looking at some type of energy moving from one spot to another (it looks like its moving down)

2.) It's some type of UFO or mechanical thing.

3.) They are portals opening from one dimension to another. The green spots (which appear to be under the snow) are something that's moving either to (or through) our dimension.

Then there is also the forth possibility, it was one of those weird camera errors that you can't really account for (but also doesn't explain the green spots).

I can't really give you a theory on it, other than I don't know what it is. What I will do is have Jeff take more photos of the church (ones that show the whole roof)... you'll have to remember that it's about half tore down at the moment, but the main structure is still in tact.

Just for the record, I do believe that there are ghosts because when I was little I saw one and had it confirmed many years later by both my brother and sister separately. I don't know about aliens because I have never seen one, however I do know that there is plenty in this world that we can't explain. This being said, I totally agree with Morbid on this one. I too am an amateur photographer and definitely believe it is a reflection through glass, as well as the two green reflections by the tree. It would be interesting to stand in the same place the photo was taken, and take one in the opposite direction. But anyway, this is still a fun subject.
