PORTLAND, Ore. -- A southwest Portland woman said she's tired of trash and litter from a local construction crew and that it almost killed her dog.

The victim said she blames the city of Portland, saying people working on a local stream restoration project near Southwest Macadam Avenue often leave garbage in the area.

The city's Bureau of Environmental Services is fixing up a stream along Southwest Macadam, but Jody Legree said while crews at the site work hard to improve the area's environment they also hurt it by leaving behind trash.

Several times a day, Legree walks her dog Chantz along a wooded path near her home.

We all enjoy it, try to keep it clean and respect it," Legree said.

Several weeks ago, the city moved in construction crews who contract with Portland. The crews are busy improving fish habitat in Stephens Creek.

While stream restoration may be a good thing for the local environment, Legree said the items construction crews leave behind near her home is not, including chicken bones, paper bags, cups and plastic bags.

Legree said not only is the trash unsightly but also dangerous for her dog.

"On two separate occasions I had to dig chicken bones out of my dog's throat, and then Wednesday he had Saran Wrap hanging out of his mouth," Legree said.

She said the trash has to stop.

"It needs to be picked up. My dog almost died yesterday," Legree said.

I'm sure there is a place to throw garbage away, so use it.

construction workers are pigs and as I was getting ready to type this one of the electricians pissed me and my super off about not picking up their trash. Both the super and I flew into him about him getting lippy about one of my labors picking up his trash and tossing something he actually needs. Anyways yes construction workers need to pick up their garbage. But the dog owner needs to not let her dog eat shit off the ground. If he was on a leash then she needs to stop him. If he wasnt then put him on a leash.
