http://i35.tinypic.com/6i8qdf.jpgThe mother of 19-year-old Ahmad Clewis-Green turned in her mentally ill son to police last week for allegedly killing a prostitute after refusing to pay her and hiding the body in a barrel in a lower downtown alley.
Denver prosecutors formally charged Clewis-Green with first- degree murder in the slaying of Esperanza Pardue, 27.
A plumbing contractor worker discovered Pardue's body Oct. 28 in a green metal barrel in an alley.
After hearing news reports about the woman found in the barrel, Clewis-Green's mother called police the next day.
She said her mentally disturbed son had called her Oct. 14 to confess that "he killed a prostitute in his apartment by bashing her head."
"He told her he put the body in a barrel and that a friend had helped him dispose of the body by rolling the body down the alley," Detective Randy Denison wrote.
Clewis-Green admitted to police that he killed Pardue.
Clewis-Green said he met the prostitute in a park Oct. 14 and agreed to pay her for sex. But after he and Pardue had sex at his apartment, he refused to pay and the prostitute became upset. He demanded Pardue leave and when she refused to leave his residence, he struck her with a metal pipe, killing her.
Clewis-Green said he'd written on the woman's body with a black marker and concealed the corpse for a while in his apartment.
Investigators didn't reveal what he scrawled on the body, which was wrapped in a shower curtain, bedding, plastic garbage bags and a blue plastic sheet before being stuffed in the barrel.
During three conversations with his mother, the suspect said he'd used bleach to try to clean bloodstains from his apartment walls.
But investigators found possible bloodstains and a woman's clothing while searching the man's apartment.http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/nov/06/denver-teen-charged-with-killing-prostitute/
Green lived at the Apartments at Skyline Park assisted-living facility for about six months. He did not have a job, neighbors said. They knew him as eager to help and abundantly friendly. He told them he was bipolar and schizophrenic.
Green frequently brought home transients and sketchy characters from the neighborhood, they said. Most neighbors would not give their names because they feared Green's associates.
"I can't make it make sense in my mind because he was a very meek child," said neighbor Harold Skobe. "He was a nice kid, but he was lonesome. Most of the people here are old, and he was young, just a kid. I think he brought home the wrong friends."http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_10860392
Even if they didn't worry about him killing someone, you would think they would worry about someone doing something "bad" too him.
Wonder why mom didn't go over and check on the story her son told her?
