A jury found David Aaron Chatman, 32, guilty of two counts of abusive sexual contact aboard an aircraft.
Chatman will receive credit for time served. Upon release from prison he will serve one year on supervised release, and must register with the state sex offender registration agency.
Chatman was a cheerleading coach with West Coast Extreme All-Star Cheerleaders in Tigard (OR), escorting a group of approximately 20 cheerleaders back from an international competition in Orlando, Fla., on April 24, 2007.
The teen initially reported the incident to Hillsboro police, who forwarded their report to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which has jurisdiction over crimes on airlines.
She woke up when Chatman reached up her shirt and felt under her bra. Scared, she pretended to sleep as he reached down her pants and touched her genitalia.
Detectives at the FBI posed as the victim by e-mail to contact Chatman to verify the story. The case was then taken over by the FBI's special Innocent Images Task Force which deals with the sexual exploitation of children over the Internet.http://www.oregonlive.com/news/argus/index.ssf?/base/news/1226089237265260.xml&coll=6
