SINTON, TX--A Gregory man and his girlfriend will spend 18-years behind bars each after both were found guilty in the child abuse death of man's 2-year old child.
Brian Fellers, 25, and Martha Vasquez, 20, of Gregory walked out of the courtroom showing very little emotion. A jury sentenced them to 18 years in prison for failing to get Fellers' two-year-old son, Justin Fellers, medical attention after he was a victim of child abuse and died last November.
A medical examiner testified his injuries looked like he had been dropped from a second floor of a building.
"It's very hard," said Tiffany Fellers, Fellers' mother. "They're going to get to continue their lives when they get out of prison. We don't have Justin. He doesn't get a second chance."
The family hopes Vasquez and Fellers think about that, while in state prison.
