Detective Darryl Howard is scheduled for a Dec. 4 court date. Police Chief Debra Duncan said at a news conference Tuesday night that Howard had been taken before a magistrate and released on $1,000 bond.
Duncan said Howard has a wife in Monroe, whom he married in 1986.
Howard also has a wife in Charlotte, whom he married without getting a divorce from his first wife.
Duncan said a tip from the second wife led to an investigation – and ultimately to the charge and the termination.
“This action shows that nobody is above the law and everyone, no matter where they work or what they do, will be held to the letter of the law” Monroe City Manager Craig Meadows said.http://www.charlotteobserver.com/local/story/285193.html
This gives a whole new meaning to "ignorance of the law".
