This morning there was a terrible and, many of us believe, totally avoidable tragedy here in Anaheim, CA. Julian Alexander, just 20 years old was shot dead by a police officer. Julian was a newlywed and a daddy-to-be. He had heard something and went outside to check on it, to protect his new wife and unborn child. There, in his own yard, unarmed, he was shot and killed by an Anaheim Police Officer who was chasing 4 juvenile burglary suspects...RIP Julian, may justice be served.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. A little precaution and making sure that what you were shooting was truly what you wanted to be shooting goes a long way. And if it were merely a burgler that the police were chasing, was gunfire really necessary? Maybe we don't have all the facts....which is typically the case when the police fuck up. Because hiding the truth and keeping the facts out of the limelight so that the police don't look bad is a good idea. Oh well, we already know how corrupt and crooked they are anyway.

Yeah over 4 JUVENILE burglary suspects. Furthermore; the officer was NOT positive that there had even been a burglary. He saw the 4 youths run away from an ABANDONED store building and he saw some broken glass outside. So he chased them.
No taser, no gas....Julian took TWO bullets to the CHEST
....I used to live in that area....it's a rough neighborhood....which is DOUBLE the reason to not just shoot at anything....stupid shit goes down there ALL the time....how many people are you going to shoot?

Holy God, do they not even look before they shoot? WTF? This happened in New York while I lived there too many times to count. It takes the life of an innocent person, and leaves devastation for the families in it's wake.
RIP. God bless his wife and unborn child. This is just so sad......

Not a BIT better...which bothers me too....shooting over a "maybe" (?) burglary....
It occurs to me that the trigger happy cop may have been scared....but, why give chase by yourself then instead of waiting for back-up?
My son and I went to church in that area this past evening....kids were crying over this...some even knew the family...everyone agrees that Julian was a fine young man and a role model for others. He wasn't into drugs, no problems with police. He had recently married (about two weeks ago). He and Renee were looking forward to the birth of their first child around Christmas of this year.
I've driven through this area of Anaheim at least three times this week. As is normal...police are ALL over the area...so I don't understand why the officer didn't wait for back-up. I mean, it was a maybe-burglary with NO one hurt...the officer gave chase because he saw some juveniles by an abandoned store and some broken glass....HEELLLLLLOOOooooo...it's Halloween....it's quite likely that they were out pranking an abandoned building....
Plus, as my son pointed out, we saw 2 vehicles pulled over by police in that area the evening before. One had 3 cruisers blocking it in and they were searching a car...the other had 4 cruisers....my point, there are ALWAYS plenty of police in that area, yet the officer gave chase without back-up. Probably startled by the man (who was in his OWN yard) he shot him two times in the chest....what part of proper police procedure are ANY of those actions?
This innocent mans death was so totally preventable...oh SHIT....I'm crying again...

This is a true tragedy.
I can understand why it may have happened BUT I would think a police officer would be better trained.
Julian was 6'5" and 265lbs carrying a broomstick. He seems to have gone to investigate noise, so his stances would have been defensive. Add in a dark area and I would not have wanted to come upon him.
The officer would have been filled with adrenaline for the chase he thought he was involved in and may have been startled by Julian.
This is the point where one would think that police officers should be cautious and well-trained. I hate to think that there is some trigger happy cop on any police force (but I am sure there are)
I don't know what happened that night, but I hope something good comes of this mess. I don't see how it can...
