Police have arrested a 27-year-old Georgetown woman they say exposed her 3-month-old infant to at least five different drugs, including methamphetamine and cocaine.
The arrest warrant affidavit says that on Oct. 1, police were called to the Austin Suites Hotel at 8300 N. Interstate 35, where Amy Lynette Patrick was reportedly "selling drugs and prostituting herself."
Inside her room, officers found the infant and her 3-year-old sister, police said. The children were placed with Child Protective Services and underwent hair follicle testing, said Sgt. Brian Loyd with the child abuse department.
Patrick was arrested on a Williamson County warrant and remains in the Williamson County Jail.
Loyd said Patrick told them she and her daughters had been staying in the hotel for a month before she was arrested.
According to the affidavit, Patrick said she smoked methamphetamine in one room while the children were in another. She told police she sometimes put a towel under the door to prevent the smoke from reaching the children, but she didn't do that all the time, the affidavit says.
Officials said the 3-year-old and the 3-month-old were tested for drug exposure, but only the infant tested positive for illegal drugs.
The infant could have been exposed to the narcotics through breastfeeding or by inhaling second-hand smoke, Loyd said. Patrick denied having smoked narcotics while she was pregnant, Loyd said. Patrick has been charged with endangering a child, which is a state jail felony, punishable by up to two years in a state jail.
