A 19-month-old Indiana County boy remains on life support after allegedly suffering a vicious beating at the hands of a 19-year-old man.

Joshua Louis Turner, of Blacklick in Burrell Township, is in jail after police say he beat, bit, shook and punched the boy Tuesday afternoon.

State police at Indiana said Turner attacked the boy in a residence at 88 Main St. in Blacklick. Police did not identify the child, nor explain what, if any, relationship exists between the two.

Police said the boy was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he had surgery and was put on life support.

Turner was arraigned before District Judge Blairsville Jennifer Rega on aggravated assault charges and is being held in the Indiana County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 4.

Reading this story broke my heart, I swear. I have a 19 month old little boy and when I read a story like this, I look at my son & I can't imagine someone punching a child like that in stomach.

When are these mothers going to learn you don't leave the most precious thing in your life at home with a man you have only known for a few months? The only way to stop the abuse is to start educating these young girls on how to care for and protect their children.
