Tekenya Wooten is missing, having allegedly run away from home in Durham, NC off Manford Drive. There aren't many articles documenting her disappearance, but of the 2 that pop up under her name in google news it was first reported by news on 10-21.
I guess this happens frequently enough in our society, where rebellious teens can get caught up in their own world & try to achieve ridiculous expectations for their age by running away from home - but how many of these kids are merely 12 years old? And how many of them are 8 months pregnant?
This little girl is tiny, only 4'5" tall & weighing in at only 100 lbs while very pregnant. In all fairness, I can't say what (if anything)) she was running from, but can imagine what she was running to.
One could only presume the baby daddy was involved somehow - but I question his intentions. Does he want to help her get prenatal care and protect her from what will surely be an agonizing delivery given her age & small size? Does he want to safeguard her from danger during the last few weeks of what I imagine would be considered a high-risk pregnancy?
Doubtful.
The day will come soon (hopefully) where Tekenya will have that baby, but without adequate care I can't imagine her health not being at risk. And that's only if the baby daddy didn't take her or convince her to run away with him for the sole purpose of getting rid of his new obligations, and the strongest evidence there is against him for his crime of statutory rape.
I'm surprised that no news media has printed this story, considering its unique and emotional facts. I hate to mention race, but we can't ignore the fact that Tekenya is black - and we are currently bombarded with sensational news stories involving mainly white participants. I pray this is just a coincidence and not a true reflection of what our society values, and perhaps no one has yet realized this story exists.
In the meantime, this 8-month pregnant, 12-year-old, 100-pound child is missing, and if she doesn't get found soon she'll likely become nothing more than a statistic.
I value my desire to be right all the time, but here's to hoping that I'm wrong.

p.s. this is my first thread ever - i couldnt locate this anywhere on DD which is the only reason I even considered posting it)
