A man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his wife several times after he rammed her car as she was dropping their daughter off at a school bus stop this morning, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Michel Cherfrere, 49, of North Lauderdale, is also charged with aggravated child abuse and violation of a restraining order, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said.
Monise Cherfrere, 43, of Pompano Beach, was taken by helicopter to North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach, where she is in stable condition and expected to recover. The 11-year-old daughter was not injured.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Michel Cherfrere rammed his wife's car shortly before 7 a.m. as she and her daughter were waiting in their truck for the school bus.
Cherfrere came speeding down Southwest 8 Street in his Toyota Tundra and rammed into the driver side of the victim's vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.
The pair ran from their truck to the nearest house in the 800 block of Southwest 68 Avenue.
"Cherfrere caught up to them at the front yard of the residence and stabbed his wife while their daughter tried to protect her mother," Concepcion said.
Monise Cherfrere got up and ran to another nearby house with her husband in pursuit, Concepcion said.
Neighbors helped the woman, and deputies arrested the husband.
The victim and her daughter were not living with MichelCherfrere, although the couple is still married, Concepcion said.
Cherefrere was taken to a hospital after the incident because he apparently swallowed some pills, Concepcion said.
"It appears Cherfrere was angry because his wife got a restraining order against him," Concepcion said.
