Who loves it? This is my favorite month, season and holiday all rolled up into one. Anyone have any plans this Halloween? Personally, we will be hitting the Renaissance Festival (http://www.royalfaires.com/carolina/) a few times, Scarowinds (http://www.scarowinds.com/) at least once. Aside from that, I will be attempting to watch and review a slew of obscure horror films this month we can discuss.
Lastly, I am actually breaking down and buying a couple high-priced Halloween props...nothing in the 1000 dollar range, but to me, if a decoration or prop is over a hundred dollars, and it was not used in a movie, it's high priced. :)

I plan on watching a ton of horror flicks, but that doesn't make it any different from any other holiday. ;)

True dat. Same here...although it seems to be more..I don't know..relevant? during this time.
I am so glad that Halloween has finally gotten through the dark ages and is once again a celebrated holiday. Each year, the Halloween\Fall decorations in stores get bigger (to the point that we even have seasonal stores that open in the mall dedicated purely to Halloween), horror movies are playing again on cable TV ALL FRIGGING MONTH (unlike awhile back when Halloween passed by with a whimper and even pay channels quit dedicating October to horror movies).
I guess I am just happy that Halloween, and the month of October, has finally gotten back to the way it was when I was my sons age.
I ment to add. Thanks to all the Latinos as well. Day of the Dead is another driving force on why Halloween and October has become commercially profitable again.

I'm past the point in my life where I feel like getting dressed up, and going out to party. I've much more fun sticking to the house, passing out candy to stray trick or treaters, and watching cheap horror on cable tv.
For some reason it has to be something on cable, or it just doesn't feel right. I've hundreds of horror dvds I to choose from, but there's just something about stumbling onto a Friday the 13th marathon that can't be beat. Guess it stems back to those years as a kid, coming home and immediately dumping a plastic sack of candy all over the floor. Then rushing to the tv while munching on a kit kat, and scouring for horror goodness.
So yeah, cheap beer + horribly censored horror + pizza and fun sized snickers = Sweetness.

I'm almost positive I'll be working on Halloween, but after work, I'll probably just stay home and watch some horror movies while I hand out candy to trick or treaters.

I always felt it was a little more a feeling of being "connected". Unlike your DVD, when you watch Friday the 13th part 24 on cable\television, I am aware of the fact that thousands of others are watching it at the same time as me.

Like stated earlier, I think it also brings back that nostalgia of having to stay up late to catch a particular flick. It brings me back to when I was a kid tape trading, or sneaking around my parents trying to catch something "naughty" on TV.

God damned young punks!
My dad was the ultimate Halloween guy when I was growing up. He is such a HUGE horror fan. He is the reason I am a HUGE horror fan. He would buy all kinds of new props every year. He made dummies out of chicken wire, wood and newspaper. He would use old clothes and always had the best masks and monster hands/gloves. We would have a werewolf, vampire, witch, Jason, Freddy, half a zombie coming out of the ground etc. He would make tombstones out of Styrofoam or wood. There was always eerie music playing. Tons of the fake cobwebs strung about. Some years as I go older, I would dress up and sit in the yard waiting for kiddies. I would stand or lie on the ground like one of the dummies and jump or reach out when kids came into the yard. I would scare the SHIT out of them!:D All you ever heard through October in my neighborhood was talk of what our house would be like this year. It was AWESOME!
I would go out for a couple hours and get my candy, and then we would watch horror movies all night.
The years have gone by and my father has gotten older. He does not do much anymore. He puts out a few props, but I think it was really a family bonding kind of thing for us. I miss it. A LOT.
Now I sit at home and put on a horror flick, I hand the candy out to the kiddies, but it just isn't the same anymore. Ahhhhhhh nostalgia.

I love Halloween. And like you Morbid, it's my favorite holiday, month and season.
Today I started off my annual October/Halloween horror movie buying spree. I may hand out candy this year but I'm not sure yet. I'll probably make some trips to some haunted houses and the like. Most of what I do for Halloween depends on who I end up hanging out with but for sure I'll be watching Horror movies nearly all day on October 31st.
For any of you that like older horror flicks, Turner Classic Movies always plays a bunch of them on Halloween. Here's this year's line-up:
(all times in EST)
6:00 AM: Devil Bat, The (1940)
7:30 AM: Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, The (1964)
9:00 AM: Bride of the Monster (1955)
10:30 AM: Revenge of Frankenstein, The (1958)
12:15 PM: Cry of the Werewolf (1944)
1:30 PM: Werewolf, The (1956)
3:00 PM: Mystery Of The Wax Museum, The (1933)
4:30 PM: House Of Usher (1960)
6:00 PM: Haunting, The (1963)
Prime Time Feature: Boris Karloff:
8:00 PM: Bedlam (1946)
9:30 PM: Invisible Ray, The (1936)
11:00 PM: Body Snatcher, The (1945)
12:30 AM: Old Dark House, The (1932)
2:00 AM: Die, Monster, Die ! (1965)
3:30 AM: Walking Dead, The (1936)
4:45 AM: Isle Of The Dead (1945)

I have no clue what I am doing this year. I have to go to class until 10PM that day and I may have to go to work after that. A few of my friends are having some parties but I don't think I can make it down to any of them.
I wanted to be John Malkovich. :(

I've buried some clothes in my back yard earlier this month. Hopefully they'll be ragged enough to pull off a zombie ensemble by Halloween when I dig them back up.

I buried my son in my back yard earlier this month. Hopefully he'll be ragged enough to pull off a zombie look by Halloween when I dig him back up. Then I'll hang him from a tree in the front yard!

I love Halloween! It's my favorite Holliday by far. I have two main traditions that I partake in each year. First and formost I help design the local Haunted House with a group of about three or four other friends. This year was only our second year... but we have a total blast doing it. I also set up a fairly large Yard Haunt for the trick or treaters every year. This year I had an old cop car that I parked out in the front lawn and rigged up with a siren and police light. I tapped off part of the lawn with some caution tape and made it look like a crime scene. (the other half of the lawn was a graveyard)
Every year I always go "after Halloween shopping"... it's the best time to buy props, when they are 50-75% off. My claim to fame this year was going to the Factor Card Oulit and finding a stash of boxes they had in the back of the store with all the Halloween stuff packed away... and digging through it, making a gigantic mess (but leaving with a shopping cart full of shit).
Then this year I went to go see Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne in concert on Nov. 2nd. It was like an after-Halloween party! A total blast!
