Changes!!!

Actually, nothing major. The front page is going to be re-tooled a bit with some added content. It will be more crime\bizarre news based. We will also be working on a few databases, but those will come much later.

The forums will remain mostly unchanged, but some forums may be expanded and a few may be added.

Feel free to throw out any more suggestions, Drag. Seriously, this is the time to do it as aside from the few loyal members, any changes will not largely affect anything. The only limitations will be how much I can support...or get help in supporting.

The main page is still getting a good number of hits (a lot from friends and relatives of past stories finding our site after all the major news sites have long since moved on to other dirty laundry) so aside from adding a bit more content, it will remain crime focused.

So if you would like the movie forum to be expanded into it's own group, or would like to see a group added (the "Other Sites" type forum will be up shortly) feel free to let me know.

Sounds like you already have yours hands full with the main page, glad to see you'll be working towards some of the changes we talked about. Mainly just an issue of staffing for the main site, support toward your upcoming changes. Should be sweet.

I wouldn't mess with the forum too much for the moment, no need to over complicate things. Once the membership increases, you can fine tune it to the community's taste.

No prob, ZB. It's actually good you haven't been doing any front page stuff. With the changes coming up, there will be no game or movie related stuff going up...just crime related stuff. The categories will be updated and separated by crime description.

If you are reading this, then you probably do not hit the front page anyway, but just in case...I am beginning to change some of the stuff around mentioned earlier. Starting with the categories. All TV, Gaming, Movie related stuff will stay in the forums and will not be on the front page any longer. Because of this, the Category listings will change to reflect that.

It will take me a few days, and I have not decided if I am going to go back and update all past posts to fit into the new categories yet, but the end result will be a pretty easy way of sorting crime related posts by categories.

But, once it is all done, it should be pretty cool. As of right now, I think I have all the murder categories covered (unless something new comes up). You wont actually them appear in the Categories list until a story gets tagged with one of them. For example, I will tag the Tyler Peterson story with some of the new categories that fit.

lol! Yes, In regards to the actual site operation, it is a one-man show. But obviously,without all of you who continue to come back, contribute, suggest or just lurk for some sick reason, it would have closed up a long time ago. :)

When commenting on the front page, it will no longer be from a popup. I had to remove that feature for now, so that I could add a GUI for adding comments...finally.

More changes going into effect. Nothing major, but the front page will have more...things...and the forums will be tweaked a bit.

One major change will be that there will no longer be any more double postings of articles in both the Reality Bites AND front page by me. It just takes up extra space. The Reality Bites forum will stay, but will be left for forum members who want to post anything, even if it is something already posted on the front page.

Just so you know... I don't know how much I am going to be around next week. I have to finish the layout of a website for a construction company and have it semi-working by Friday. Not to mention the fact that Guitar Hero 3 comes out. :p
