HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- Two parents have been arrested after their daughter was found lying in the garage of their Homestead home on Tuesday.
Lashonda Riggsbee and Roberto Demming have been charged with aggravated child abuse.
A Department of Children and Families investigator found their 10-year-old child lying in the fetal position on the ground in the garage next to a portable training toilet.
The child told police that she had been locked there overnight. She said she is often put into the garage, which has no air conditioner or window, as punishment, according to the Homestead Police Department.
The DCF said it had received reports of several guns and abuse in the house in the 4100 block of 11th Drive.

Fucking idiots! They do NOT need a kid. Love the pics. They look like two winners.
I would send my kids to their room as punishment. Then I would go in and take the TV/VHS/DVD and gaming system out. Good enough...enuf said

With FL heat, that is attempted MURDER not malicious punishment.

For more than a year, police say, Homestead businessman Roberto Demming kept one of his girlfriends locked in his house -- forcing her to research real estate and beating her with a belt or a large wooden stick.
Sometimes he forced Shirley Hill to stand for as long as 20 hours as punishment, she told detectives. Her legs swelled dangerously.
Demming was arrested last week and faces a slew of charges that include kidnapping, attempted murder and child neglect. A Miami-Dade judge on Tuesday upheld a decision last week to keep him in jail with no bond.
Demming, 34, is also accused of not giving his 3-year-old daughter enough to eat and refusing to allow Hill to change the toddler's diapers, bathe her or take her to the doctor.
He also faces an earlier accusation that he and his other girlfriend, Lashonda Riggsbee, 34, frequently beat and inhumanely locked their 10-year-old daughter in the garage.
On Sept. 29, Hill's sister called Homestead police. Officers arrived at Demming's house. At first he refused to open the door.
Finally, he let the officers in, and they saw Hill inside ``crying and hysterical.''
''I'm tired. I'm tired. I can't do this anymore,'' she told police, adding: ``I haven't been to a mall in two years.''
Officer Shanell Wadley noticed ``her ankles/legs swollen to about 10-12 inches round.''
''My child doesn't have a childhood. He doesn't allow us to go places,'' Hill cried.
Hill later told a detective she ''was beat daily as a form of punishment,'' a police report reads. He used his fists, a wooden stick and a belt, police say.
From Demming's arrest affidavit:
``She advised she was made to read real estate books or look up information for hours to help the defendant's business. If the victim could not find new accounts or fell asleep during her research time, she would get beat.''
Other punishments included standing for hours at a time, according to police. Detectives say he also choked her and threatened her with weapons from an arsenal that included an AK-47 machine gun.
Hill also told police Demming did not want her getting close to their daughter. He feared she ``would turn the child against him or flee the residence.''
Instead, Riggsbee sometimes cared for the child.
When the little girl began losing weight and behaving oddly, Demming refused to let her see a doctor.
The girl needed the care: She suffers from an enzyme deficiency disorder known as maple syrup urine disease and was ''developmental delayed,'' the police report states.
The next day, the Florida Department of Children & Families learned that a 10-year-old girl, Riggsbee's daughter, was being kept in the garage as discipline.
At the door, Riggsbee told police the girl was in school. DCF investigator Eunice Guillot replied that there was no school that day.
Demming finally opened the garage door. The interior door to the house was locked from the inside.
