"A Chalmette man swung a 4-foot metal sword at a neighbor's head during a fight, authorities said.
Leslie Wilson, 57, acknowledged using the sword in an attempt to cut off the man's head, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Wilson told deputies that his neighbor, Albert Estopinal III, 32, threatened him first.
Both men were booked with disturbing the peace. Wilson was also booked with aggravated assault and attempted simple escape after he was able to get out of the back a deputy's squad car and started walking away, the news release said.
Wilson was being held in St. Bernard Parish Prison in lieu of $13,500 bond and Estopinal was being held in lieu of $11,000 bond.
A deputy found the sword on the living room floor of Wilson's home.
Estopinal told deputies they started fighting after he went to Wilson's home to confront him over something. He said Wilson got the sword from his home and swung it at him. The news release did not say what the confrontation was about."
As a T.P. reader said, Highlander much?
I can't get over the fact that he wasn't charged with attempted murder! He even said he wanted to cut the guy's head off!
Just, wow.
