An Internet-based investigation led to the arrest of a Forsyth man Saturday on suspicion of sexual intercourse without consent.
Sgt. Allen Fulton, of the Rosebud County Sheriff's Office, said that Samuel Casey, 30, met a 14-year-old girl through MySpace, a popular social networking Web site, and traveled to Spearfish, S.D., last weekend and brought her to Forsyth.
Fulton said the girl's mother called the sheriff's office Saturday evening. She said she suspected her daughter may be with a man she met online, but all she knew was the man was named Sam and lived in Forsyth.
Fulton said the girl left Spearfish sometime Friday and told her mother she was staying with friends. Saturday, her mother was concerned and contacted the girl's friends, who told her that she left with Casey.
Fulton was able to access the girl's MySpace account through her brother's account, and found Casey's profile, which included a photo of his car. Fulton then spotted the car in front of a local restaurant and identified Casey and the girl inside. He was later arrested, and the girl was picked up by her mother.
"I didn't expect it to go as well as it did," Fulton said. "From the time the mother called it was less than hour until we found her."
Casey likely faces additional federal charges for transporting the girl across state lines, Fulton said, and the South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation is also considering charges.
A search warrant was served on Casey's residence and two computers were seized. Although Fulton could not comment on the contents of the computer hard drives, he said additional charges could be filed depending on what investigators find.http://www.billingsgazette.net/articles/2008/09/29/news/state/19-myspace.txt
