Mmm mmm! How's 'bout this one, folks? Our local favorite organization of People for Eating Tasty Animals has proposed that Ben & Jerry's use human breast milk instead of cow milk in its ice cream.

If you felt your stomach lurch, you're not alone.

Now let's just consider how implausible this actually is.

It takes a gallon and a half - 12 POUNDS - of cow's milk to make 1 gallon of ice cream. So how many women are we going to pump for this? And wouldn't their milk be put to better use for, oh crazy idea here, their babies?

PETA. If it weren't for them, I'd have less to laugh at in this wonderful world of ours.

I was actually thinking about this today-- as my radio gods did yet another segment on it.. as a mom that breastfed.. I know what I ingested affected my babies.. so "IF" this were plausible.. the lactaters would have to have very regulated diets.. wouldn't want big macs & Italian food, or heaven forbid peanuts, to 'corrupt' the ice cream.. not to mention any sort of medication that could be passed thru.. EW EW EW!!!

One caller on the radio actually asked "IF" peta was successful in this campaign, "Would we next be consuming 'people meat' to save poor Bessie the Cow?"

just a few random thoughts -- carry on :P

I already posted in the other thread how nasty I think this is, but here's a question..

What ever happened to soy milk and rice milk? Why is human breast milk now the thing? I can see a plethora of problems that could come from sourcing human breast milk. Crack heads who get pregnant left and right to sell off their boob juice. You know it's going to happen. It's just so wrong on all levels.

Wait, PETA is going after Ben & Jerry's? Home of all that is tie-dyed and tree-hugging and hippie? Ben & Jerry's which uses small family farms (http://www.benjerry.com/familyfarms/index.cfm) for its dairy sourcing?

Man, I do not support PETA. I've been ovo-lacto vegetarian since I was 12 years old (started November 1993) and I do give a crap about animal rights, but PETA is just a bunch of hypocritical whack-jobs.

Yeah, good point! Go after Dreyer's or something. haha. Who would have thought the day would come when we'd even be forced to think of more "evil" ice cream companies? The world is going crazy.

I used to be vegetarian before my children. It is a great diet if you do it in right way. It have good benefits. Glow skin, good for heart, and weight-loss...etc. After having two kids, I CANNOT give up steaks!
