Memorial Hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico has been a little batty lately. It's probably because they've encountered up to seven bats in the Imaging area of the hospital. So far they haven't found any bats in any other areas of the hospital. They say no patient has had contact with a bat and they trying to figure how the bats got in the hospital while they are taking necessary steps to keep bats from getting near anyone.

The hospital's chief operating officer said only a handful of bats have been seen in the hospital, and they are doing everything they can to keep the bats from making human contact.
“Bats have a bad reputation of the concern is always rabies. In New Mexico, it's been decades since we've had a human rabies case,” said Chris Minnick, spokesman for the New Mexico Department of Health.
Some bats have been spotted this week inside the hospital's imaging area. So far, the staff has only seen about seven bats. Administrators are taking the necessary steps to make sure they stay away from people.
“We contacted the Department of Health had their support to investigate what's going on. We contacted Animal Control to take care and transport the bats away and then we've been working with outside contractors,” said Steve Hyde, Memorial Medical Center Chief Operating Officer.
In addition, the hospital has screened off access points for the creatures, like in ceiling vents, and postponed elective cases in the imaging area. No bats were found in the ER or other areas.
