"VIRGINIA BEACH - Police have charged a Virginia Beach woman with felony child neglect after she was found intoxicated at a local bar while her 2-year-old was at home unattended.
Tanya Chaney, 27, is being held without bond at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
Police spokeswoman Margie Long said officers responded just after midnight on Wednesday morning to a report of an intoxicated patron at a bar on 11th Street who had become disruptive and had not paid her bar tab on two previous occasions. The officers arrested Chaney and charged her with public intoxication and two counts of defrauding an innkeeper.
While interviewing Chaney, officers determined that her 2-year-old child might have been left unattended. They contacted her husband at work and arranged to meet him at the couples' home on Waterfront Drive. They found the child alone in the unlocked apartment. An investigation determined that the child had been alone for at least six hours."
When I heard this on the radio, it was amusing-- defrauding an innkeeper? admit it-- you want to chuckle! Then they mentioned that she left her toddler home alone.. Dumbass..
