Man, those people in St Helier, Jersey (where ever the eff that is) are some rude a-holes. Ok, not all of them, but one person in particular.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1039500/Storm-nightclub-barred-women-fat.html
A group of young women heading for a night out together were told they could not enter a club - because they were too fat.
Police officers were forced to step in and defuse tensions after the manager of the club allegedly told the group of about six women to 'go away and lose some weight'.
Georgina Mason, 23, said she was 'disgusted' at the way they were treated.
'The bouncers said we were not allowed in because we were too big,' she said. 'I told them not to be ridiculous.'
Miss Mason said she had demanded to see the manager of the Havana Club in St Helier, Jersey.
'He would not look at me directly but said they'd received too many complaints about fat people,' she said.
'He told me to "go and lose some weight before you come in - fat people are bad for business".

The nightclub owner apologized to the BBC. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/jersey/7531553.stm)
Martin Sayers said he made "a wrong decision" by refusing entry to about 25 women at the Havana Club in Bath Street, St Helier, on Saturday night.
"I'm just deeply sorry that people have been offended. It was a poor decision made," he said.
He was highly embarrassed over a "moment of madness" which would not be repeated, he told BBC News.
I feel bad for these girls. How embarrassing. They just wanted to get their drink and dance on like everyone else. Plus, I don't know for sure, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the people of Jersey are not Brangelina clones. I'm just sayin. I did some Googlin'.
Here's the link to the actual club. http://www.havanaclub.je/
They have the super sexy disco sensation every Friday night! Keep it poppin' Jersey, keep it poppin'.

Well, dayum they woulda missed out on some fun with my fat ass. Their loss! Fuck it! take the party somewhere else girls that's what i say! They will lose more business from the bad P.R. than the ignorant decision they made.
Oh yeah, that is prolly why he apologized eh?

Seriously?
Haha! What a dumb ass.
Everyone knows the bigger you are, the higher tolerance you have for alcohol. It takes more drinks to get a buzz or to get drunk.
More drinks = more money. THAT is a how a night club survives.
Their money is just as green as anyone else's.

You know what....don't those dudes know that one of the best way to shed some pounds is dancing! Those fucking guys are assholes. I have a big beautiful voluptuous friend, and fuck me, when we used to do the bar hopping thing, she'd get hit on more than me. :) I could not imagine my BB friend, tolerating that shit.....she'd have kneed the fucker right in the fucking balls....and then told him. "Thanks for a much needed leg lift, ya know I need the exercise." hahahahahahaha:biggrin1:

Any business should have the right to deny service to any consumer regardless of reasoning. It's their loss of income. It's the same to me as inviting someone into your "home" to sell them something.

Yeah, but if all the fat girls get left out, who is left for the wingman?

Since I live in this sticks, this is another of those culture shock moments. Bouncers around here are for kicking people out when they get naughty. Sometimes they double as the doorman to collect cover charges (on rare occassions there is one) and check IDs but never weight or other criteria. We don't even have dress codes beyond you have to be wearing clothes (I think).
Sad. But I guess that's how they groom the self-centered self-important entitled-feeling folks. I say keep them corralled in one spot so others know where to avoid.

Where I live the main thing people are worried about is someone bringing a gun in a club for cryin' out stinkin' loud.

I'd sue for discrimination...aren't there laws protecting obese people these days?

I can't see this as much different than a dress code. I find it hard to believe he was actually getting complaints - it sounds like a personal bias, to me - but it is his club.

You aren't kidding. I live in LA. People get shot at clubs on a nightly basis. If these women were here trying to get into "Whatever Club Is In Right Now But People Won't Know The Name Tomorrow," then I'd understand this. But just like you all said, in other places it's kinda shocking. I am not a hottie, but I've never been turned away from a club.
If I had, I'd pull out my club gun and start bustin' caps!
Reminds me of the scene in Knocked Up with the bouncer:
You old, she pregnant. Can't have a bunch of old pregnant bitches running around. That's crazy, I'm only allowed to let in five percent black people. He said that, that means if there's 25 people here I get to let in one and a quarter black people. So I gotta hope there's a midget in the crowd.

I do agree it is his club so it is up to him. The government is not funding him, so whatever.
That being said I still think it is wrong and I hope he feels it when people stop coming to his club.
Ya know, the more I think of it, obese people are the only type of people that I see facing discrimination so openly right now. Especially, with all of the fitness incentives these days and such, obese people really are allowed to be treated like shit. That's sad.

GREAT POINT.
As a chunky monkey myself, I know how hurtful it feels and how helpless it feels. What most people don't understand is that obesity, in many cases, isn't that easily solved. Some people can't just exercise and eat less and lose weight. There are many factors involved. I am a lucky one that can just exercise and lose weight, but I've met many people who aren't so fortunate.
They would never get away with discriminating someone by race or disability. The ACLU would be all over that mess.
Great, great point. Thank you.

it is, due to behavior from people like sorry excuse for a man, that i never go bar hopping, or clubbing or out...FTW, i'll stay under my rock, where i'm content not to have to come face to face with people i'd like to kick in the head for such stupid antics. :/ the less they're in my face, the better the chance i have of keeping my temper in check.

Are the big girl panties the ones with the comfort waist band? If so, I've got them on. They feel great.
