A Malibu family is pleading for the public's help in their search for mentally impaired, identical twin teens who apparently ran away from home Sunday.

"My identical twin daughters are missing," Kay Corrodi said in an interview with ABCNews.com. "They have pretty limited knowledge. They are big, tall, pretty, pretty girls who are quite naive."

Mary and Morgan Corrodi are 16-year-old students at Malibu High School who live on California's Pacific Coast Highway. Each has the mental capacity of a 12-year-old, according to their adopted mother, and are in specialized courses at school. The teenagers are among Kay and Jack Corrodi's 16 adopted children, ranging in age from 8 to 35.

I'm gonna have to ask the question. If these girls have the mental ability of 12 year olds, why were they allowed to run amok on MySpace? Each have multi accts.

What the fuck? You can adopt a 35 year old?

I hope the girls are found though. They're pretty, and might become victims to someone.

Adopted Mama got them placed in Special Ed so they get a door to door bus ride to school and she gets a bigger check each month because they are special needs.

Now this is interesting. The parents are famous for adopting.

April 19: When Jack and Kay Corrodi, ages 69 and 74 respectively, weren't able to have their own children, they decided to adopt.

the girls might have fetal alcohol effects. totally jacks up sequencing and impulse control and causes some learning disabilities and immaturity as well.

i front-paged them, anyway. :) thanks, UCat!

Makes ya wonder what in the hell was going on in that house that two 16/12 year olds felt they had to run away.

I hadn't even thought of the Imp...Fetal Alcohol Syndrome...thanks for the jolt to think outside the box. My mind has been in a perpetual fog lately. I hope we hear what their disabilities are "clinically".

Something about this case never seemed right to me. I must question whether these young women are developmentally disabled, or just disadvantaged from being raised in an adoptive family and not having their natural family, and suffering from all the social isolation and estrangement that this otherness will cause a young person to suffer? Being an at-risk youth is not synonymous with being developmentally disabled. The father said these girls have an IQ of about 70. I defy you to show me someone who is—in effect—mentally retarded open, edit, and manage several myspace pages as these young women have, not to mention pulling the wool over the these peoples eyes concerning drinking, whoring around, whatever else we do not know about. That they are so computer literate and savvy alone disproves these claims. If these girls find more constructive ways to free themselves from this adoptive family, maybe they might consider pursuing defamation claims against them, and Fox News. Personally, if someone suggests I have the IQ of the mentally retarded, I would be apt to devour their organs—family or not, adoptive family or not.
From what I recall, the clueless mother expressed that she was shocked—shocked—that these girls indicated that these girls liked to drink and party. That is the definition of clueless—to express surprise that attractive young American women drink socially at 16. Also of note, in attempt to convince the audience that these girls are in fact developmentally impaired, the father talked about how they would approach boys suntanning on a beach. He then describes "socially unacceotable." Incorrigible, perhaps. Unwise, maybe. But it certainly does not reflect on their cognitive abilities.
The real story is that social services would place adoptive children with such backward and mean-spirited people. And yes to declare on national television that your adoptive daughters have an IQ of 70 is mean-spirited and belittling. These young women are making some very poor choices. The phrase that comes to mind when I first saw their myspace pages is “lil’ wigger skanks.” But it does not seem they are being given much of a chance in life when their adoptive father disparages their mental capacity on national television and tries to submit their flirtatious nature as an indictment on their cognitive development.
In response to other posters here specifically, can anyone verify that they receive a bigger check for the small yellow bus? I would also like more information about fetal alcohol syndrome. Still, at this point this is just conjecture. The bottom line is that the parents are not only over-bearing and demeanng, but interchange terms like developmentally disablled, slow, and IQ f 70 with incorrigible and "socially unacceptable" behavior. The result of this sort of psychological abuse of at risk youth? They whore around with guys named Alejandro they meet on myspace. Behold the consequences of irresponsible, abusive parenting.

Welcome to DD Wolf.

Since I brought up the short yellow bus I will try to verify that they receive a bigger check. I found this pdf file here (http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/lettersnotices/entres/getinfo/acl08/08-01.pdf). It is a bit confusing but as is shown intensive treatment is $2985-$4476 per child per month versus $627 per month for a normal 15-19 year old child.

Do you think they would qualify for intensive treatment as described? WHY isn't the media pursuing THAT story? This is incredible.

They know how to play the system. The media either doesn't know or care. That is what the state will pay. They probably get between 36k-40k per month in benefit payments. That money is also tax free.

There is another story out here on DD that I hope someone links where a lady had a bunch of special needs kids and kept them locked in the garage. She had collected a couple of million in benefits.

On another forum, people claiming to be in affiliation with this family have been challenging me (in it I use the moniker ANAKIN). I thought I would reproduce the most recent challenge here. Anxious to read other readers' response. Personally I do not buy it.

Anakin: in response to some of what you've written recently...
First, I think there may be confusion about what developmentally delayed means. It has nothing to do with mental retardation. Developmentally delayed can and usually displays high functioning aspects, although its the processing of certain things which are difficult or impossible. Things such as recognizing personal boundaries..those are blurred and the concept of you dont walk up and talk to everyone that you think is friendly and cute can be beyond their ability to grasp. Also, judgment and impulsive actions are also usually something highly affected when there is a delay. It doesn't mean you can't possibly maneuver a MySpace page. Very different processes going on cognitively. Plus, delays often show their full impact in the ability for emotional development as opposed to purely cognitive. Also, factor in whatever their early childhoods held before they were adopted, that always has a large impact on anyone, let alone adding difficulty to the issues of delay.
They have found the girls, and the 23 yr old guy that has been trying to lure them for weeks, and successfully now it seems, is in jail charged with various things related.
For me, the interesting piece of this discussion is that so many here are jumping into blame..either social services or the parents or the girls. To assume anything without knowing what actually takes place in someone's home or personal life is irresponsible. Does anyone know what the family was doing last night to deal with this? Trust me, it wasn't sitting back and acting like all is well. They are facing this head on and using professional expertise to assist them.
So, move on to your next news story ..since finding a podium to spew your "dark pondering" is obviously your motivation and some need you have. I'm sure you have personal struggles in your life and aren't perfect...start from that point when you are addressing things and people you don't really know about..as opposed to generating from your anger.

I will reproduce my response once it is published.

My response:

The problem is that is not what was said about these girls. The term IQ of 70 was specifically used--something you did not at all address, and now seem to be backing away from when challenged by my reasoning. They were also described as slow. Again, we are talking about a guy who interchanges the terms slow and developmentally challenged with "socially unnacceptable" and, according to the police, incorrigible.
As for the emotional delay and all that, sounds to me like these are merely some psychological issues that woul be expected from at-risk children. Calling them slow, putting them in the retard class, disparaging them on national news can hardly help with this. Again, for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction.
I will concede there is no way I can be certain. I am not there personally--I can onl go by what information I have read and seen. But using the best tools and information I do have available, it seems that the preponderance of the evidence supports my view--that these parents smothering, demeaning, and overbearing approach to these girls is hardly constructive. Other posters who claim to know the family say it is nothing new.
As for my dark pondering, well it seems to be working. Many have expressed agreement with yours truly, particularly on another forum that I provided earlier, where there is a large consensus that these people are brandng otherwise normal, healthy children of substance abusers to get a larger payment from the state. To that I can neither confirm nor deny, but the suggestion certainly raises some serious questions, does it not. At the very least, the issues I have presented were threatening enough to oblige you to respond.
