A nude photo brought out the naughty in Ronald Barche

NORTH PORT - North Port High School teacher Ronald Barche, 47, was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly trying to seduce a 16-year-old girl by sending her sexual text messages via cell phone.

Barche was arrested at the high school, where he has taught in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps program for seven years. Principal George Kenney said Barche had been an "excellent employee" and no complaints had been made against the teacher, who was preparing for the start of school when he was arrested.

According to police records, the girl, a North Port High student, told investigators that she and Barche routinely exchanged text messages over their cell phones. But the messages turned sexual last week when the girl reportedly sent Barche a nude photo via cell phone.

Who was seducing whom? I hope someone here has some common sense. I'm not saying Barche had a right to send her sexual messages - he should have reported it to someone instead of acting on it. But I hope the girl has some consequences, too.
