If she never wanted children, why did she have 4 before she was 15? This is so sad all the way around.

Valerie Lopez on Christmas Eve beat her 18-month-old daughter to death, hid the body beneath their South Side apartment and two months later added the body of her infant son, officials said Saturday. Yet, the young mother's life at 1302 W. Winnipeg Ave. assumed a predictable, occasionally joyful pattern as the weeks turned to months and a stench began to settle around the triplex.
She baked a birthday cake in January for her live-in boyfriend, Jerry Salazar, and hosted a party in the room above her daughter's decomposing body. On Valentine's Day, she brought him fresh roses and a box of chocolates, later joining guests for a barbeque get-together in the triplex's front yard.
A dead animal, the couple claimed, was stinking up the property. They told friends the children were staying with their grandmother.
"It didn't seem like it bothered her or him," said Tony Serenil, 41, a tenant at the triplex and Salazar's cousin. "Like if those children never existed."

Such delusions of normalcy were shattered last week when a neighbor discovered beneath the triplex the bodies of Sariyah Garcia and 4-month-old Sebastian Lopez. On Saturday, a task force of law enforcement officials tracked the couple to the South Side apartment of an acquaintance of Salazar's, capping a four-day manhunt, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Tom Smith said.
The couple had hidden in a shed a few blocks from the triplex and possibly a brushy, remote field near Southwest Loop 410 and Texas 16, Smith said. They were captured about 5 a.m. at the apartment without struggle.
Salazar, 28, was charged with injury to a child by omission "because he admitted knowing (Lopez) was abusing the children," District Attorney Susan Reed said at a news conference.
Valerie Lopez is escorted out of the San Antonio Police Department as Chief William McManus follows.
Jerry Salazar is a suspect in the death of two infants.
Salazar remained in Bexar County Jail on Saturday in lieu of posting $1 million bond.
Lopez, 19, was charged with one count of capital murder in the death of Sariyah. She remained in Bexar County Jail on Saturday in lieu of posting $10 million bond.
Reed said she plans to seek the death penalty against Lopez.
Lopez admitted to police the child "would not stop crying so (she) repeatedly struck (Sariyah) about the head and body," according to an affidavit for an arrest warrant.
Later the child appeared unresponsive.
"Instead of calling for medical attention, (she) wrapped (Sariyah) in a blanket, wrapped the blanket with tape and placed the child in a trash bag," the document said.
She then put the trash bag in a duffel bag and hid it under the house, the affidavit said.

I read about this case back awhile and it break my heart. I wish I remember where I read....it said something about the CPS giving her another chance....to help her. With her first child, there was warning signs that she couldn't take care of the child due to mental problems (I personal think she doesn't have mental problems...she's just a cold-hearted bitch..) They should have take her child away in first place.

Dakota_Valkyrie, she's too idiot to realize there's a free BC at clinic.....

A man who served as the primary caretaker of two infants found buried under a San Antonio home in March 2007 has plead guilty for his role in their deaths, according to the Bexar County District Attorney.

Jerry Salazar accepted a plea deal from Bexar County Prosecutors on Tuesday. Under the deal, the 30-year-old has agreed to plead guilty to a charge of Injury to a Child in exchange for a life sentence.

"The case against Jerry Salazar was entirely circumstantial," Assistant District Attorney Catherine Babbit said. "It's been awhile and the witnesses we had some difficulty remembering things locating people and so the evidence in our hand right now really supported a conviction of injury to a child."

Salazar was living with Valerie Lopez when she killed her 14-month-old daughter, Sariyah Garcia, and her 4-month-old son, Sebastian Lopez. The bodies of the children were wrapped in trash bags and stuffed under the home in which they were living.

The couple disappeared for four days after the bodies were discovered under the house. The pair were eventually captured and arrested on March 10, 2007.

Under questioning, Lopez admitted she killed both of her children and told investigators that Salazar had no involvement in the deaths. However, Salazar admitted to police that he was aware Lopez had been abusing the children but did nothing to stop it.

In July 2008, Lopez plead guilty to two counts of capital murder and received a life sentence without parole.

CPS as a whole sure has mental problems
Chalk up another obvious fuck-up for CPS, what was that statistic in Texas 50% of investigated CPS cases end up with dead children
WOW! What a dysfunctional agency, it's almost like they identify more with the abuser than the victim

A cell phone video shows a wide red bruise stretching across Sariyah Garcia's face from her mouth to her ear.
When a police officer saw the injury on Nov. 10, he found no reason to suspect child abuse. Six weeks later, the child's mother, Valerie Lopez, beat 14-month-old Sariyah to death, stuffed her into a trash bag and hid her beneath her South Side apartment, authorities said, adding the body of her 4-month-old son, Sebastian Lopez, two months later. Lopez has been charged with capital murder.

The officer's decision not to remove the child from the home immediately, instead calling Child Protective Services, has stirred outrage in her relatives and others in the community. But it isn't the only upsetting aspect of Sariyah's Christmas Eve slaying.
[...]
At least three people told CPS before the slaying about possible abuse: Sariyah's great-grandmother, Lopez's father and a former babysitter of Sariyah. Yet CPS was not able to contact the mother or her children despite 43 attempts between November and March.

[...]
Since the discovery of the children, grieving relatives have condemned CPS and the San Antonio Police Department for not saving the children despite warnings of possible abuse.

• ACPS supervisor wrote this letter — dated one day after the bodies of Sariyah, 1, and her 4-month-old brother, Sebastian were found under a South Side triplex -- to thank a relative of Sariyah for reporting possible abuse of the child.
Their outrage has been compounded by a video of a bruised Sariyah, taken with a cell phone Nov. 10 by a friend of Sariyah's great-grandmother, Sylvia Garcia, who called police that day with suspicions that the child was being abused.

[...]
"The baby would cry just to get her attention, and (Lopez) would just push her away," said Hernandez, who had allowed Lopez, Salazar and the children to live with her for a short time before the family moved into the triplex where the bodies were later found.
..."It's a blunder," she said. "It's a maze of errors."A BLUNDER!! more like a horrific display of laziness and complete disregard for the well being of helpless children. I'm sickened beyond belief. Once again children who were witnessed to be abused by family and signs seen by an officer were failed. Failed completely and paid with their lives!! This is very close to home, simply breaks my heart, aches as I read the horror. She carried on as if nothing after wasting these children's lives. I can only imagine how their short lives played out.

There was supposed to be a video at this link taken from a relatives cell phone. It showed the bruise described on Sariyah face. I couldn't find it at the link but still looking for it. I want to see what the officer saw and walked away from.

‘I Beat My Baby Daughter To Death On Christmas Eve’...Burn in Hell.

Video shows the two useless pieces of flesh. This woman is no mother, not human in my opinion is a pathetic excuse for a man. He should have punched this woman solid for beating on the children. I wanted to reach into the video and strangle this bitch, this wasteofspace.

Some comfort as I read this.

A judge sentenced him to life in prison.
Valerie Lopez will also spend the rest of her life in prison.

Littlest angels in the heavens...together always, Christmas eve will be yours in remembrance. Kisses.

UGH!

Burn in hell after a long, lingering, horrific stay in prison. That's still a LOT more than the kids got and these two will be better protected than the children they killed ever were.
