A missing 4-year-old child was found this morning along the roadside in St. Marks, according to David McCranie, spokesman for the Tallahassee Police Department.

And police say a woman who has custody of the child had abandoned the child there overnight.

“We don’t know why she left the child on the side of the road,” McCranie said.

About 7:30 a.m. today, Tallahassee police were called to a disturbance at Banyon Bay Apartments on Miccosukee Commons Boulevard. Upon arrival, family members said Gidi Guerrier, 23, was acting strangely.

Officers interviewed her, and she told them people were "putting spells on her." During the investigation, family members realized the child was missing. When asked, Guerrier told investigators she didn't know where the child was.

Investigators said Guerrier has custody of the child but is not the child's biological mother. They couldn't give details. She also has custody of an infant daughter and 3-year-old son.

Officers began a search for the child and learned that the child had been found about 7 a.m. by a resident along State Road 363 in St. Marks. The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office had the child in their custody. The child hadn't been physically harmed.

Guerrier was arrested on child abuse and kidnapping. It's believed she took the child to St. Marks and left the child there alone between 3-6 a.m. this morning.

Just so you guys can see, St. Marks is like 20 miles from these apartments. The area just west of here is my "neck of the woods."

I think them spells were working. Any word on whose kid it was and why she had custody? Maybe the kid's mom and/or Children's Services had a spell on them too that made this woman look like a good guardian.

There's video on the link but it doesn't say much other than the little girl told police that Gidi (pronounced Gee-Dee) told her that a friend was going to come pick her up. Was she leaving a human offering for the dead??? Weirdo.

The resident that found the little girl says the child told her that Guerrier was teaching her not to be afraid of the dark.

When police interviewed Guerrier she said voices told her to flee and get out of the apartment. She said she had a burning sensation in her feet and legs and decided to "go find God." That's when she took her two children and the victim and drove into Wakulla County.

Guerrier says voices told her to drop the victim off at the cemetary and that's when she drove through the fence at the entrance. She said she initially tried to leave her own daughter, but couldn't and left the 4-year-old.

No Bond in Child Abuse Case

http://www.wctv.tv/home/headlines/26073569.html

A woman accused of abandoning a four-year-old girl on the side of the road will be held without bond, at least for now.

23-year-old Gidi Guerrier made her first appearance in court Tuesday morning to face child abuse and kidnapping charges.

The judge ordered her held without bond until a psychiatric evaluation is complete.

Authorities believe the child may have been alone there for hours.

This pisses me off. Why would the family ask for help and not get it? This probably would have never happened if she had been evaluated.

The woman who was arrested after police said she dropped a 4-year-old child off at a cemetery in the middle of the night was showing signs of a mental breakdown in the days leading up to the incident, a family member says.

Guerrier, the mother of two young daughters, routinely cared for the 4 year old, said Tawanna Sykes of Atlanta. Sykes’ son is the father of the two girls. They all lived at the same Tallahassee apartment with another woman, the mother of the 4 year old.

Sykes said Guerrier had no history of mental illness or drug use but recently started acting strangely. She had lost her job and was under a lot of stress. Sykes said Guerrier was normally a very caring and responsible mom.

“It’s like she has just been experiencing a mental breakdown,” Sykes said. “I would talk to her on the phone ... and her whole frame of mind was changing. It was like she was trying to save the world from evil. She thought everyone around her was evil or she thought someone was out to get her.”

Sykes, a Tallahassee native who owns a construction business in Atlanta, said she and other family members tried to get Guerrier help starting Thursday, July 24. But she said police officers and deputies who showed up didn’t get her the help she needed.

Officials with the Tallahassee Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office responded by saying Guerrier didn’t show signs of being a danger to herself or others at the time.

Under Florida law, people can be placed in involuntary psychiatric care if they are incapable of surviving on their own without treatment or there is a likelihood they will inflict serious bodily harm on themselves or others.

“We never evaluated this person because there was no reason for us to evaluate this person,” he said.

Guerrier has pleaded not guilty and has been appointed a public defender, according to court records. She is being held without bail in the county jail.
