Police said a man accused of kidnapping his wife and beating her for hours remains at large and is dangerous.
Samuel Clifford Moore, 35, of Martins Ferry, is accused of kidnapping his wife and holding her hostage in a locked basement on Cemetery Road without food or water overnight Thursday.
Police said the woman was beat repeatedly and suffered injuries including extensive cuts and bruises. She escaped after nearly 10 hours.
"There were a couple of times where he did go downstairs and beat her some more throughout the night. She's not really sure how many times," said Patrolman Charles Ghent of the Martins Ferry Police Department.
Moore is wanted on charges of felony kidnapping and felonious assault. Investigators believe he may be hiding out in the Wheeling Island area.
He is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, about 200 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to immediately call police.
