Robert Michael Kuszajewski faces 450 charges of sexual abuse of a minor

A Hempfield man faces 450 charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl over several years.

Robert Michael Kuszajewski, 40, of 724 Sagamore Drive is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bond.

He is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, indecent exposure and corruption of minors.

I always have a hard time figuring out how they arrive at a specific number in a case like this. Is there some cop who sits there with his adding machine tallying up each incident and figuring the average number of times per week it happened to come up with a figure? Do weekends or holidays count the same as weekdays? Is there a handbook of formulas? Sorry, I'm not trying to be flip, but HOW do you charge him with 450 counts, instead of say 445 or 452? It just weirds me out.

I have wondered, too. It cannot be completely arbitrary. Probably it is based on interviews of the unfortunate victim and relate to what they think they can substantiate.

If something happened every Tuesday when Mum went to her pottery class they might consult the programme from the evening school. Just speculation; but.....
