On Thursday, Memphis police charged Marvin L. Sturdivant, 48, with criminal attempt robbery and aggravated burglary in connection to the incident.
Sturdivant is accused of physically assaulting the 79-year-old woman and stabbing her with a fork during a robbery attempt last week at the senior living facility. Authorities said he got past the front desk by lying.
Investigators said Sturdivant walked into the woman's apartment through an unlocked door on July 19, approaching her and yelling, "Where is the money?"
St. Peter Manor, home to the elderly and disabled, has modified its visitation protocol in the wake of this attack.
The victim was still too shaken up to show her face on camera, but her wounds were clearly visible as she lay in her hospital bed.

According to court records, Sturdivant has been arrested 39 times. His rap sheet shows he’s been arrested 14 times for theft, twice for aggravated robbery and three times for burglary. In February 2005, he was arrested for breaking into a woman's apartment intoxicated. Sturdivant has also been charged with domestic assault, assault and battery and had an order of protection filed against him. Sturdivant’s other charges include prostitution, indecent exposure, trespassing, panhandling and vandalism.
Sturdivant has served jail time in Shelby County, in fact five and half year behind bars total since 2000. His longest stint at once was one year 11 months.
Court records also show Marvin Sturdivant has a problem cooperating with law enforcement once he's out of jail. He's been arrested three times for violation of probation, twice for failure to appear for booking and once for contempt of court.
