A Pennsylvania State Police trooper is accused of online solicitation to rape a child, according to prosecutors.
The trooper, identified as Albert Silveri III, was reported in custody Thursday and arraigned before a district justice in Media.
The arrest was made by members of an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Delaware County and announced at a news conference Thursday afternoon.
Silvieri, of Aston, was among 39 promoted to the rank of corporal last year. His assignment at that time was to remain with Troop K in Philadelphia. He has been a state trooper since 2000.
Prosecutors said Silveri would use a computer from the Belmont barracks and at his home to communicate with an undercover police officer.
The alleged online conversations began back in April and continued until the arrest this week, investigators said.
Court papers allege that the conversations were sexually-graphic.
Silveri allegedly wanted to meet with the undercover officer posing as the mother of 8- and 10-year-old girls.
Prosecutors said he "asked about the possibility of engaging in sex acts with mom (officer) and two young girls," and he was aware of the girls' ages.
